Hey guys. I am just checking in to see who might still be lurking
around from the early 2000's.

I have gone by a few names here, but York is who I would best be
remembered as.

I don't currently keep any herps due to me living situation. but I
have my eye on some for when I move. How are you guys holding up?

John

  Gecko question

Author: evanshaller
Date: Aug 13, 2008 19:48

About how many adult Mediterranean geckos can usually be found (if you
could find all of them) around, say, a typical Florida ranch-style
house in a semi-rural community, given plentiful shrubbery and hiding
places? (Also a given: this is outside the range of other non-native
competing gecko species.)

  Kingsnake - soft cyst?

Author: Jeannie
Date: Aug 9, 2008 22:10

Hi, our Florida Kingsnake has had a small lump on the side of her neck
for a couple of years, and recently it has enlarged and is quite soft,
like a fluid-filled blister. I does not seem to be related to an
injury. She gets frozen thawed mice, so I doubt it's an abcess.

I would like to pierce it with a sterilized needle and put hydrogen
peroxide on it. Any advice?

Thanks,
Jeannie

  Corn Snake Help?? Please...

Author: mstang14

Hello everyone,

I'm pet sitting a corn snake for a friend and I've had him about two
weeks. He shed about a week ago. He is now looking yellowish on his
sides since he shed... is that normal? Or is that a problem? I don't
know anything about them other than what my friend said... he's set up
the same way my friend had him in his aquarium with lights and heat
etc... he's due to eat again today and I noticed when I went to feed
him. He's a nice snake... not sure how old but fairly small (guessing
18" to 2ft?)... at least a year old maybe up to two?

Any help on if I need to worry about this? And sorry if this is a
stupid newbish question... I'm new to the snake thing... the group
thing... everything LOL. I just want to take the best care I can of
this guy for my friend.

Thanks so much for any advice.
Sarah

OT -- Constrictors adapting to Everglade

Author: The Ranger
Date: Jul 10, 2008 07:18

I was watching the History Channel's "Monster Search" on giant
constrictors (human-hunting boas and anacondas over 40').

I can't imagine running into a 10-12' reticulated boa or
Burmese python that escaped from a pet shop during a hurricane.
Dade County now has a unit devoted to capturing non-venomous
snakes. I was stunned that these snakes have adapted so easily
to the Florida everglades and suburban life.
