I received an email from ADOA that indicated they may be using deceptive
advertising and questionable corporate deals to finance their more extreme
animal rights activities (similar to those of PETA), while doing very
little to help dogs and cats in shelters. This article was posted by the US
Sportsmans Alliance, so of course they are biased toward hunting rights,
which HSUS opposes. The article can be found here:
http://sbynews.blogspot.com:80/2008/05/animal-rights-group-dupes-donors-into.htm...
I sometimes contribute to HSUS, but usually only enough to get whatever
promotional item they may offer. I contribute much more to local groups,
such as the Humane Society of Baltimore County, and Fallston Animal Rescue
Movement.
HSUS claims to have a four star rating (out of five) with
www.CharityWAtch.org, but their list of top rated animal protection
organizations did not list them, but did have
http://www.americanhumane.org/site/PageServer, with an A- rating, and
http://www.friendsofanimals.org/, with a B+.

Thanks. I'd found it, but wasn't sure.
On newsgroups it's conventional to explain little-known
acronyms. Just a heads up! Thanks again.

I support the HSUS, but I also support many other animal rights
orginizations across the country such as dog, horse, and farm animal
sanctuaries. I always support my local shelters. They really need the
money, and I support my local Rottweiler Rescue Orginization.
I am a strong advocate for better laws for the more humane treatment of farm
animals, which I feel never receives enough attention,. I support more
protection for endangered wild animals and better laws for the ethical
treatment of circus animals, rodeo animals, race horses and greyhounds.
When I donate to the HSUS I don't expect the HSUS to pour all their money
into just dogs or the local shelters. All animals need an advocate that ...

Perhaps you both (all) should do a little more checking into just what the
agenda is for the HSUS. And that is really all they are - agenda. Not a
single penny of their money goes directly to animals.
I suggest that you do a search of www.naiaonline.org.
