  Maybe: an update

Author: Rocky
Date: Jun 30, 2008 20:20

Maybe flew today, and she flew last Friday, the first time
since she was eight weeks old.

I judged an agility trial in my old home town and, since I was
judging 17 of the 21 events and couldn't compete, I took Maybe
so she could experience some new stuff and meet my family.

Maybe's a very confident and thoughtful dog. She handled the
flight well, as well as our new home and new car (both loaned
by the organisers). Since I was pretty well the only judge,
two others took her for walks during the day but we had plenty
of together time during the evenings and night. It was pretty
cool being only with her without Rocky and Friday.

After the trial, we visited mom for a night, which meant
meeting more strangers (most of my relatives) and sleeping in
yet another house. Not surprisingly, the only incident which
put her ears down was meeting my 3 very young nieces. They're
very minding kids, and understood when I asked them to let
Maybe come to them on Maybe's terms. Still, three active
girls 'twixt 3 and 8 were disconcerting for *me*, let alone my
puppy who had never spent time with kids.

Mäntyankeroinen (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus)
Oireet
Männyt kuolevat nopeasti. Pihkaneritys tyrehtyy. Latvukset tulevat
punaruskeiksi.

*Koska tämä mäntyankeroinenKIN tuntuu olevan ydinhallintomme määritelyssä
100%% TABU on aihetta toki syytä pitää jatkuvasti esillä. Samoin kuin
maailmanlaajuinen tritiumsadevesilammikkoihinsa kuolevien matelijoiden ja
sammakoiden hätätilajulistukset ja muut vastaavat säteilyn mehiläistapot
toki! Näin tällaisen ilmon poistetun nettihausta:"Suomessa metsätaloutta
uhkaa eniten mäntyankeroinen, joka on luokiteltu vaaralliseksi ...
Mäntyankeroisen leviämisen riski Suomeen on varsin todellinen, ...!"

*Aika hurjaa tekstiä muuten, vai mitä ja SUPO/IAEA mitä ilmeisemmin kielsi
noin kaikenkertovan materiaalin julkaisun? .. .. No yhtä kaiki herättää HETI
epäilyksiä virannomaistemme ja ydinhallinnon mitä hämärimmistä
syy-yhteyskytköksistä!

  Leash training a reluctant dog

Author: Stephen_B

We have a young dog (4 month, 20 pounds, boxer/border collie mix) that
seems to be afraid of leashes and will sit and dig in with her legs at
the prospect of a walk. We've had her for a day, but she seems to be
an otherwise sweet and well adjusted dog.

There seems to be lots of advice for dogs that pull forward on their
leashes, but not for dogs that hold back. Can anyone suggest a
strategy for taking walks?

What size dog fares better in the heat?

Author: Phyrie

Hi,
Well, summer has finally arrived to the Pacific Northwest. The last couple
of days have been hot, hot, hot. The fact that I keep cooking meals in the
oven doesn't help. I used my infrared thermometer in the living room here
and at 8:30PM it's still almost 87 degrees F. in here. My question is when
do I become worried about Kiba's activity level in this heat? I realize
that a lot of you deal with much higher temps. but for us on this tiny
island, heat is rare. What should I watch for, other than the common sense
things, like making sure he has lots of fresh water, don't play outdoors in
the day etc... He seems to be panting a lot today, so that's why I'm
asking. I thought a smaller dog should do better in the heat ( I don't know
why), but Kiba seems to be affected quite...

She's running so fast with her mouth open that the wind puffs out
her cheeks?

Need help naming puppy - we give up!

Author: crispywafers

Ok...we are stuck. I think we have looked through at least 100 dog
name lists, baby name lists, but we can not find a name that suits his
face.

We have one dog named Sophie already - so my husband wants a name that
does not end with a "y" sound.

Any suggestions

What name does this face say to you?

HOWEDY nooner,

Sounds like you need anti psychotic medications and long term therapy.
