Excitement Last Night! Bat Inhouse! - LONG

Author: hopitus
Date: Apr 30, 2008 23:08

Watching usual late-night StarTrek Voyager rerun, the deck screen door
was wide open as
no breeze and unusually warm night....suddenly, all 3 cats come
swarming into room bellowing
at full volume....I would guess, "Prey! Prey! Hot diggety, something
*live* to chase!" (they
never go any farther outside than the goodsize fully-railed wooden
deck)....running at top
speed, I tore myself away from the tv to see a fast-moving bat flying
from wall to wall and also
down the long hall leading to bedrooms, etc. I jumped up and promptly
fell over Rowdous, the
half-blind largest of the 3. I had tangled with bats living nearby in
CA many years before, in
my youth (one flew into my then-abundant hair, which I ripped out,
knocked to concrete patio,
and proceeded to beat on with broom business-end...bat got his act
together and flew back
into the large home-tree next door) and was now fearful it would fly
into my hair, but no, Miss ...

Survey, what is your relationship with animals?

Author: biophilesurvey
Date: Apr 30, 2008 23:04

Please take 10-15 mnutes of your time to be an anonymous participant
in a research project that I am performing for school. You will be
asked to answer a series of question and view up to 4 short video
clips upon which some of the questions are based.
The research involves the level of appreciation that people have
for animals, and what effects different television programs might have
on that relationship. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

  Holy Cow

I am looking for a dog and went on a rescue site here in Ill. The adoption
for the two I was interested in was $300.00. I expected around $100.00.
For that kind of money, I could buy the kind of dog I wanted and start from
scratch instead of a rescue. Is this high or am I that far behind the
times?

  Rambo :(

Author: ~*LiveLoveLaugh*~

After a "four month's stay" from renal failure (by giving sub fluids and
such), Rambo is going to the Rainbow Bridge tomorrow after my brother gets
home from work. My brother has always had anywhere from 5 to 10 cats at a
time. We were talking about all the ones that have gone before Rambo. But,
as we all know, it never gets easier... not by a long shot.

Purrsss please for Rambo as he makes his journey.

  Socializing purrs requested

Author: Daniel Mahoney

After my mom's dog Cali went to the Rainbow Bridge, everybody was having a
bit of trouble adjusting. My brother Pat's dog Maggie, though, is having
bigger problems adjusting than either of the two humans. She seems to be
really missing Cali.

Mom just adopted a young coonhound named Daisy. Daisy is settling in quite
nicely and Mom is really liking having a dog around again. Maggie, though,
is NOT thrilled. She appears to be terrified of Daisy, though there have
been absolutely no signs of aggression.

Maggie had a very unpleasant life before Pat adopted her. I won't go into
the details, as it would make me very angry just to relate her story and
would undoubtedly bother many people here. But she is now a well-loved,
very pampered girl. Her past, though, makes her very timid and afraid of
change. Her fear of Daisy is making things very rough on Mom and Pat.

Purrs for Maggie to get over being a Diva-Doggie, settle down, and accept
Daisy would be greatly appreciated.
