Silent is the shippe: all are laid to rest:
One alone looks out o'er the sea-waves deep,
Watching every cloud, awaiting every blast
That whirls the wildering water, and bends the groaning mast.

Cheerful is his heart, soft the tuxie fur;
Every shivering gust creeping through the boards;
The little eyes burn straight, their rays shoot strong and far:
I use them well, to be the ghost cats' guiding-star.

Frown, my haughty sire! chide, my angry dame!
Set your slaves to spy; threaten me with shame:
But neither sire nor dame, nor prying serf shall know,
What ghost cat nightly tracks the shippe’s most frozen prow.

What I hove shall come like visitant of air,
Safe in secret power from lurking human snare;
What I need, no word of mine shall e'er betray,
Though for faith unstained my life has forfeit paid

John is always bringing or sending me some cute little cat-related
something. Usually cards. But this visit he brought me a cute refrigerator
magnet. It's a grey kitty with a fluffy tail and long curly eyelashes -
definitely of the female feline persuasion :) And it's a clip! Perfect for
holding coupons, recipes and the like. He's so thoughtful!

Dave just sent an email to various friends and got back one notifying him
that Pauline (the recipient) passed away on Saturday.

She was almost 86 and in good health pretty much to the end but of course
it's sad and he's upset- they got on so well she used to joke she'd like to
adaopt him and he'd say he'd love to have her as his mum

She only had a few cats in her life but her love was her dogs- when Hurricane
Katrina came and she was trapped (remember this being only a few years ago so
she was well into her 80's) the authorities turned up to rescue what they
probably thought of as a frail ole lady. Her first question was "Would she be
able to take the dogs?" and they said no so she told them she would sit tight
until they could find a hotel or something that could take her and her dogs
but until then she wasn't moving! They found somewhere in the end

You'll remember that a couple of months ago The RPCA gang and the
members of Flippy's CatGroup decided to celebrate Flippy Day on her
birthday, May 29, tomorrow in many countries and today in her homeland
Australia.

You picked a good year to begin Flippy Day, because it's her website's
10th anniversary! The home page reads in part, "Hi, I'm Flippy, the
owner & webmaster of this webpage which went online in 1998." Good
timing, gang!

Anyway, I know you'll want to greet this special person who's done so
much for cats and their human slaves over the years with her kitty-
related mailing list, web site "The CatPage", and more recently a chat
group, "Flippy's CatGroup". So let's hear it for Flippy, folks!
