  Cats and The Full Moon

Author: Kyla =^. .^=

In 2 days, the Moon will be full once again. Does a Full Moon effect your
cats?
Mine just sit in the windows and stare it, sometimes 'talking' to it, but
they don't go any more beserker than usual.
How do your furbabies react?

I took you all's advice and went to the cops. so did the jerkwad's wife.
together there was enough to land the guy a night in the cooler. he was
released on his own recognizance, having had no priors, and a temporary
restraining order placed so he can't so much as wave hello to his estranged
wife without consequences. I have been advised that I may be wanted for more
statements if anything comes up, and they may want to talk to the guy
Jerkwad's been palling about with: the one he asked for a phone number to a
lawyer or a hitman. The wife, my good friend, officially filed for divorce
last week. I am expected to provide a court statement down the road. It's
difficult to divorce in New York; you have to provide grounds based on
infidelity and cruelty, or imprisonment or insanity. We don't have...

  Varieties of fur

Author: Yowie
Date: May 17, 2008 18:08

I've never realised that cat fur comes in so many varieties. Not the colour,
or the length, but the texture.

Shmogg had short hair, but he felt soft, like rabbit fur. He had marino like
'crimping' in his fur on his shoulders, and his chest fur was softer than
his back fur

Pickle has short hair too, but he feels smooth and slick all over, almost
like water would run off like a duck.

Suki has long hair. Its usually cool and smooth, and 'heavy', such that she
has a part down her back. Even though its long hair, its never fuzzy or
fluffy, and always neat. She doesnt seem to need brushing. Suki has almost a
blue sheen to her white fur.

Shadow had long hair. Its fuzzy and warm like felt or velvet. It sticks out
in all directions and all the fur besides the guard hair is wavy (but not
wavy together, like marino wool or like Shmogg). Her armpits & belly have
little curls. Shadow needs to be brushed. Shadow has a yellowish sheen to
her white fur (where its clean, otherwise its grey/brown)

I can tell the difference between Suki & Shadow more by touch than sight,
LOL.

Cats continue to amaze me....

Does she understand what I say?

Kitty was up on my chest purring up a storm tonight. I rarely watch TV but
there was something on that I was interested in and I could not hear it for
her loud purrs. I said "Shut up, will you, I'm trying to listen" I said it
in a conversational tone, not one that could have scared her.. She stopped
purring immediately. She was a silent kitty until it was over and then she
started purring again.

How weird is that?

OT: It's HOT in Seattle, and some advice

Author: Kyla =^. .^=

Melting Kyla, DH and cats, at 5:45 pm Saturday, it's down to 92 degrees.
Too hot for me.
If your furry beasties get too hot, they won't eat as much, so make sure
they have plenty of water.
I take a washcloth, rinse it out in some cool water and give them a cool
rubdown. They love it.
Me? I wring the top of a tee shirt in cold wrter and put it on.
No, I don't go outside in this heat like that..LOL
Don't wanna scare the neighbors
Keep cool

Seems tonight I am asking a lot but...

I may have mentioned my friends Matt and Tony who are about to lose
their flat for legal reasons- they have not done anything wrong but
the landlady wants to move back in

Matt seems to have completely vanished into the arms of a lady named
Mel...who is such a lovely person that I wish them all the best..they
won't be able to live togther for ages...as Matt says because she has
a mortgage on a flat in Watford which is where Matt has been staying
for the last few weeks and apart from one incident he hasn't had a fit
for 3 weeks (And that didn't count he came round) and he really can't
get to go work from there but I also suspect love will find a
way...Mel being as I say a lovely person but also under the goth gear
actually down to Earth and very funny and nice

Anyway the victim in the crossfire is Fuzzbutt the cat

  Roasting in California

Its HOT here. And has been for several days. Yesterday hit 103 with wind.
Today is headed just as high, but just a breeze.

Molly finally forgave me for improper barekitten care this morning. But
still reminds me, none of her kittens had cause to make such a Godawful
noise while she was caring for them.

However, as I said, its HOT and she noticed I had the magic brush while I
was outside early this morning. I've been getting up at 5am and then
sleeping half the afternoon. Anyway, I brushed just about an entire cat
out of her coat. Will make a very nice lining for a birds nest or two (as
well as some neurotic baby birds) and should make her much cooler.

I just got home from a Little League game. Both teams have large buckets
full of cold bottled water and are pretty much force feeding the players.
The umpires are working with a bottle of water in one hand. Rules be
darned. Coaches sucking it down as well.

Jake just came in for the afternoon, stopped by the computer and informed
Kayla he will be sleeping on 'the bed' the rest of the afternoon. With a
few choice comments about her not being allowed in the room, much less on
the bed. Kay finally roused herself long enough to growl and snap at him.
Satisfied that he got Kayla to misbehave, Jake has headed in for his nap.

  Benj- please purr

Author: Lesley
Date: May 17, 2008 13:29

I have often mentioned my friend Jim the gardener- he who took little
Molly when she had nowhere else to go and his senior cat Benj adopted
her like father and daughter

Jim thought Benj was loosing a bit of weight so yesterday he took him
to the vet. And Benj who is 14 has liver cancer.

The vet doesn't think surgery will help- Jim has taken Benj home with
some medications that might give him a little more time but since
getting back from the vets Jim has noticed that Benj although eating
well and using his box is not enjoying hmself, he didn't get on the
bed to sleep and he's hiding from Molly who can't understand why her
"daddy" won't play with her

Jim says he thinks its time- so can we have purrs for Jim as he makes
the hardest decision of all and for Benj who whatever happens does not
have much time before he crosses the Bridge

Abelard finally eating - with gusto

Author: Pat
Date: May 17, 2008 12:46

I thought I was going to lose the little guy there for a while because I
could hardly force him to eat, even a smidgen, and there seemed to be no
improvement in his overall condition. His weight is way down and he's
starting to look like a starving kitty.

Thursday night I started him on some homeopathic medicines - Histaminum 30C
& Calcarea Carbonica 30C, and last night I was visiting some friends and
told them about what happened, and the woman says 'Let me give you a bottle
of my colloidal silver' and I thought, sure, why not give it a try, it can't
hurt and might even help. I gave Aby a large dose of the colloidal silver
last night and first thing this morning along with both of the homeopathics.
Last night when I gave his antibiotic pill I was sure it went down, but this
morning I found the pill on the floor so apparently it flew out of his mouth
and I didn't see it happen. (It normally takes up to half a dozen times of
putting the pill into his mouth before I succeed in getting his mouth closed
with the pill still inside.)
