  Any spare purrs?

Author: Joy
Date: Mar 26, 2008 23:58

Tomorrow morning I take Nanki-Poo to the oncologist. Spare purrs for a good
outcome to the visit will be appreciated. While I want to keep him with me
as long as possible, my highest priority is to make sure that he doesn't
suffer.

Author: quasi
Date: Mar 26, 2008 19:40

Hi, fellow cats (and cat lovers). I'm a loveable big white cat named
Quasi and I've written a wildly-funny how-to manual for cats, The
World Is Your Litter Box. The book will be released by Sterling
Publishing on May 6th, which is a mere five weeks from yesterday! With
chapters such as "How to Get Your Human to Buy Your Favorite Food,"
and "How to Get Away with Unacceptable Kitty Behavior," "How to Get
Your Human to Sing and Act Like A Complete Idiot," and "20 Good Places
to Throw Up," this book is a MUST HAVE for all cats and cat lovers.

For more information, and to pre-order a copy of the book, please
visit the official The World Is Your Litter Box website at
http://www.theworldisyourlitterbox.com. Any comments you might have
on the book or the website would be most appreciated. Oh, and by the
way, I love it when female humans kiss me... it's the best!

I came across this site which could be of interest to any of you who
must feed one cat separately, now or some day. Looks simple enough to make.

  A Nice Phone Call

Author: jmcquown

Mom's phone rang and she said, "It's some lady for you." Huh? The woman
said hi, this is xxxxx with the vet's office. My heart nearly stopped!
(The last time I got a call from the vet's office when I was out of town it
led to a $900+ surgical bill!) She said, "Persia and Peaches just wanted me
to call to see how you're doing!" I laughed (and heaved a huge sigh of
relief).

I've been calling a couple of times a week anyway but it was sweet of her to
call me. She said they've been giving Persia the run of the cat room
whenever possible, and playing with her, so she's getting plenty of
exercise. Then she said they tried putting her up front in a large
enclosure so she'd have some extra stimulation but "Boy does she talk a
lot!" So that didn't quite work out as planned.

Oh, and Hill's is discontinuing her prescription (x/d) food. It will be
available through June. There's some other something that will be available
for the animals who currently need x/d.

  *Kitty Toofpaste*

I highly reccommend getting some kitty/doggie toothpaste for your furry
animals, from your vet.
The enzymes in the toothpaste will help your kitty/doggie's health and you
don't HAVE to 'brush' their teeth for it to work. Just put some on your
finger and let them lick it off. Ours is poultry flavored and I'm tellin
ya, Mosey would eat the whole tube, if I let him Dental hygeine is VERY
importand for our cats, as the lack of it can cause severe problems, like
kidney failure and such. My vet told me about the fact that just giving
them a 'dollop' each day will help if your pet doesn't like to have their
toofies brushed.
I put some on the end of my finger and offer it to Mosey and I brush his
teeth with my finger and say' brush brush brush" to him when I do that.
The other 3 just...

  The litter saga

I need to post something to get the cheesburgers out of my head.

I continue to have misgivings about the clumping litter I am using. I
was using the Scoop Away which I mentioned here as I remember. It
created a lot of dust which got over everything and stunk the whole place
of the perfume in it. I tried Phil's suggestion of pouring it back and
forth outside first and that helped but it was still bad. I have now
gone through two boxes of a name brand scoopable (the name just jumped
out of my head) which was better

BUT

I continue to worry about the amount of litter dust that coat the cats
coats (he he) which make them smell like cheap whores and much worse
which they ingest. I _have_ put my large air filter in the cats' room
which _has_ greatly lessened the amount of dust around the house but the
cats are still exposed to it.

So I just picked up a box of Swheat Scoop.

  Mom's Roast Cat Recipe

Author: Billy Colburn
Date: Mar 26, 2008 10:35

My mom's cat is unlike any other. The breast meat isn't dried out,
requiring cupfuls of gravy to taste good, but moist and flavorful. I've
been watching her make roast cat for years. Finally a few years ago she
let me make it, giving instructions the entire time. Mom's method is to
buy the best quality cat available (organic, free-range, etc.) and cook
it breast-side down. She also cooks the cat stuffing separately, not in
the cavity, which makes it easier to cook the cat more evenly.

Preparation time: About 5 hours.

* 1 cat, approx. 15 lbs.*
* Juice of a lemon
* Salt and pepper
* Olive oil or melted butter
* 1/2 yellow onion, peeled and quartered
* Tops and bottoms of a bunch of celery
* 2 carrots
* Parsley
* Sprigs of fresh rosemary, thyme

* Need help figuring out how big a cat to get? In general, plan for:
