There's this pet food store near my house where I buy cat food,
litter, etc. I always go on Sundays because a local feral-rescue
group has an adoption in front of the store and I like to visit
the kitties.

Today I went and they were just breaking down (it was late in
the afternoon and time to pack up), but a few cats were still in
their cages. I stuck my finger in one and the kitty rubbed his
head all over my finger. I asked the volunteers if I could take
him out and hold him, and they said yes.

The cat immediately shoved his head under my chin, started purring,
and wouldn't budge, except to touch noses with me and rub his head
all over my face. He was a little darling. The next thing I knew, I
was offering to foster him!!

At first, the volunteers said they had someone. Then they said that
they actually hadn't asked the guy (ie, the fosterer) yet, so if I
wanted to, I could take him tonight. They know I already have 3 cats
at home, because I visit them almost every week and talk to them all
the time. They said that if it turns out to be too much, they do have
other fosterers who could take him. And of course, he could get adopted.

  Some purrrrz and prayers please

I just got word that a friend of mine and Lees, who by the way just lost a
foot to diabetes and is recovering nicely, one of his cats went to the
bridge last night. Her name was Bertha and she was 14 or 15. She had laid
by the front door all day and finally made it all the way up the steps to
his bedroom and there she left this world.

He is a really nice man and with all he has been through, I hate that this
happened right now. Not that there is ever a good time.

Prayers for Bertha and for Bill her slave.

  [Sorta OT] Dust buster question

Author: bastXXXette
Date: Feb 3, 2008 16:14

I just googled "dust buster" because I've never owned one and now I
want to buy one. I see that Target sells them. So I just wanted to
hear from you guys what you think of them. Every day, even after I've
vacuumed the floors, I find cat litter strewn around the bathroom
floor. I'd really like something easy to clean it up with, rather than
having to lug out the big sucky monster, disturbing the local fauna,
or sweep it up with my dustpan and broom, which isn't such a hardship,
except that it does put me in closer contact with the litter. I'd
prefer a bit more distance. :)

Any recommendations? Any warnings? What works best for cat litter?
What kind lasts the longest? It dosn't have to be the "Dustbuster"
name brand, although if that's the best kind, I'll get that. I just
want a small, hand-held, battery-run vacuum for the daily kitty
litter in the bathroom.

Thanks!
Joyce

  Gifts from the Kitty

I have a 6 year old indoor neutered male. Whenever I go away - for an
hour or two even - and come home, he leaves his little puff ball by
the door. What does this mean??? Is this like the outside kitties do
with real mice???

My kitty before him, also a male, had a stuffed rat that he would
leave in the bedroom hallway for me when I was out.

Do your kitties do this too?

  Shadow purred

I've just been out to feed Shadow, I was giving him some scritches and I
heard him purr for the first time. He's so much more relaxed now, I'm sure
he's benefited so much from being neutered.
