Last weekend, I desperately felt like a lie in. Unfortunatley by 6:45am,
there
was a sqeak, a thud, and a little voice saying in a concerned sort of way
"Mummy, wake up."

Although knowing it was utterly futile, I replied "Don't wanna" and rolled
over.

"Mummy, wake up, sun is awake"

I peaked out of the doona that was over my head.

Whilst true it was past sunrise, it wasn't very much past sunrise, and
besides, it was dark and cloudy.

And the best thing about children is you can lie to to them.

"Its still dark ouside, Cary. Time for sleeping"

"Pickle is awake".

I should know better than try to reason with a 4 year old, but I hadn't had
my coffee yet.

"Yes, I know, but cats are nocturnal. Go to sleep."

"What that means?"

"Nocturnal?"

"What that means?"

God Bless Ian Anderson for being a cat lover. Purrs for all those who have
gone to the Bridge.

  Ticking intruder

Author: Marina

I just bought a kitchen timer shaped like a cat. I turned it on to check
that it's working. This did not go down well with the cats at all. They
circled the offending and ticking intruder, and then Caliban bit its ears!

That'll show it. Filthy intruder cat. No one's gonna come and go tick
tick on Caliban's patch.

  Molly and the baby

Author: Jo Firey
Date: May 15, 2008 21:26

I had the honor of babysitting for my five month old granddaughter earlier
this evening while her parents went out to have a meal in peace and quiet.

Which I love to do, even when she isn't an angel.

Well, tonight she wasn't an angel. She was tired, but not tired enough to
fall asleep. It was pretty obvious she would much rather have been in her
own home in her own bed.

So after she had played with her cousins and been outside for a walk and
had her bottle, she cried.

I rocked her and sang her lullabies, and she thrashed around and cried.

Not a problem. Babies do that.

But Molly was very upset with me. She kept coming into the room and
walking around us. Then she jumped up on the rocking chair to check things
out. It was obvious she was worried that I was hurting Emily. And she
really wanted me to stop. She tried her best to comfort her, and at one
point even bit me gently. I wasn't taking proper care of her potential
future slave.

Kind of amazing to see this tiny cat who usually has little use for humans
of any sort, worried sick that this little, very loud human wasn't being
taken proper care of.

  Roxy entertains my singing group

Author: bastXXXette

Last night my choral group had our weekly rehearsal, but the woman who
usually hosts the rehearsals was sick and couldn't be there. So we met
at my place instead.

It was about 95 degrees (35 C) in the apartment, even with the fans
going, so we were all pretty wilted. We did make a half-hearted attempt
at singing, but then Roxy jumped onto a chair when the person who had
been sitting there stood up.

It happened to be my office chair, which I'd wheeled into the living
room to accomodate extra people. It also spins around. So I said to
someone standing by the chair, "Hey, spin that chair around - Roxy loves
it." So she spun the chair, and Roxy obliged by digging her claws in and
looking cute. She (the person) spun the chair for quite a long time,
and then started spinning it the other way. I was worried that Roxy would
grace us all with a huge barf, but instead she just kind of sprawled out
on the chair (with claws dug into the fabric so she wouldn't fly off),
and looked *totally stoned*. Everyone was greatly amused.

And then we bagged the rehearsal and all went out for ice cream. It was
that kind of night!

  Am I Doing Something Wrong???

Sometimes I just feel like leaving rpca because I feel like I can't say
anything right.
I have alot of people mad at me, and I know I'm in a lot of hoomins
litterboxes.
I really love the funny pictures and videos, but the sadness and angst
really get to me. I don''t feel like I'm of any value here whatsoever.
What have I done wrong so I can correct it? I try and send purrs and
prayers, for those who need them, and I've made some wonderful friends here.
Mosey and I have sent cards to some people, who have expressed their
appreciation and I thank you for that.
I guess I'm just too sensitive. I'm not a 'frenetic' person,
like someone said, and I do try and get along with the folks here .
I don't know what to do.
*sigh*

I get my a@@ kicked by a 13 year old girl than get my a@@ chewed out by a
63 old than get battle scars from 91 year old than spit on by a 79 year old
lady than get clawed on by a 84. All while a senior citizen old fart laughs
her tail off watching the whole thing

Got to be an easier way to trim nails other than paying some one it might be
worth it next time. I used to own Kevlar gloves but got rid of them after
the rescue day maybe time to invest in another set

  It didn't work

I am going away for an overnight meeting. I thought I would be smart and
only pack things tonight that didn't hold cat hair. Well, I put my shoes
and that sort of thing in the suitcase on the bed. By the time I got home
from work today.....It looked like a tri color cat had moved into it.
Somedays, you just can't win.

How did the brown recluse spider bite turn out. You disappeared and I just
remember about it. Did everything turn out ok about it.
