Best Song - The Ides Of March - Vehicle - 1970

No song could match the energy of this story song about a drug
dealer/pusher!!! Listen to those screaming horns; listen to that drummer
moving at 100 MPH behind the drums! Sadly, The Ides of March became a
One Hit Wonder. Later, after he lost his lead singing voice, Jim
Pererik, joined the group, Survivor, as a keyboardist!!! I think he
strained it with this song!! Sing it, Jimmy!!!....

Ides Of March, come on down and take some bows!
Great, great song!!!

Why do you think it's about a drug dealer/pusher?

Why? I'll tell you why! Okay! Here's the reason! Okay. See, back around
the time this was a hit, see, Warner issued it, along with a bunch of
other songs, like Crazy Elephant's "Gimme Good Lovin'", as a Drug
Related songs LP!! Remember, I'm the friendly stranger in the black
sedan, won't you hop inside my car. I got pictures, CANDY, I'm a lovable
man, I can take you to the nearest star (or to the nearest grave from
overdose!)!!!

It's clear that you're the one that's on drugs, Johnny boy. Or else the
toxic dumps in Jersey have fried your brain.

I remember when it was a hit thinking how much the group sounded like
Chicago with the strong horn section.

Understood! But the drummer is the main difference! Not sure who this
drummer is, but, man, he's hauling on those drums!
