I see that a near-mint copy of Randy Holden's POPULATION II (original,
on Hobbit) just sold on eBay for $499.

Anybody wanna buy my copy for just $475? (I bought it for 44 cents on
a closeout rack in Birmingham, Alabama, about 1971).

At the same store I got a copy of the American Blues album on Karma
(pre-ZZ Top). I think that's worth several hundred bucks now, too.

What are some of YOUR really valuable albums?

Uni mentioned two songs that sounded similar to him - reminds me of
some, too. My favorite:

The Drifters' I Count the Tears, and the Grassroots' Let's Live For
Today.

Tears: "Na - Na - Na - Na - Na late at night"

Today: "La - La - La - La - La live for today"

Totally interchangeable, right?

Roy Head's son, Sundance, wows Idol judges American Idol

Roy Head's son, Sundance, wows Idol judges American Idol found a strong
front-runner Tuesday night in Sundance Head, a barrel-chested Memphis
auditioner with a huge voice.

As Sundance mentioned on the show, he's the son of singer Roy Head, who
had a No. 2 pop hit in 1965 with Treat Her Right.

"He's a dancing fool, and I got no moves," Sundance said on the show
before wowing the judges. A 1965 clip of Roy Head on YouTube
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ga4mM01SeE>, true to his son's
description, he was a fleet-footed wonder.

Of his name, Sundance told Idol, "My folks were hippies, I guess. It was
hell to grow up with."

Roy Head, 64, now lives near Humble. Like his son, he has a strong
voice, and although Treat Her Right was his best-known song, he was an
innovative singer and dynamic performer who fused elements of country,
soul and pop.

On Feb. 3 Roy will headline the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame ceremony,
but right now he's mostly fielding questions about his son.

Re: Capitol merging, and vacating the Tower?

They're not vacating the Tower. They sold it a while ago and leased it
back for 20 years.

Once EMI let Levy and Munns go, Slater was a dead duck.

A great treat!

People without hindsight, insight into technology's development,
foresight or whatever may complain about the lack of creativity in this
presentation, but within the limits of TV of the day, and probably the
budget for group making their first big splash, those who came of age
back then know this was a fine presentation.

Low-fi, but worth a look once...at least my favorite Jeff Airplane
song.

Probably 99 44/100%% of us or more never saw this short-lived group
live, but this may be as close as you get:

Low-fi. Probably of kinescope-like vintage source. But worth it,
despite it all.

Remember, get choice, not chance, with a Larry refer(a)nce
