The reviewer complained that Stipe sang with his back to the audience for
one song.
When I saw REM in 1986 he sang with his back to the audience for the entire
show.

it was quite good! not sure about "Electrolite" being such a concert
rarity, though :-) and i was a little baffled that he thought The
National was so special, but not Modest Mouse. i thought Modest Mouse
was fantastic and the National just so-so (i mean, they're okay for a
Joy Division knock-off, but not as good at it as, say, Interpol) :-)

Green was '89 silly. :-)
In '84 he hid behind his long hair.
Yes young 'uns, he once had hair, & lots of it,

Not the whole show, but he faced away for a lot of the show I saw in
1987. I'm glad he's (mostly) quit that.

I saw the National in a small venue last year and they were terrific, but
their songs take a while to sink in and I think 'Alligator's is far
superior to their current album 'Boxer'. I can certainly see why they're
supporting REM - wish they were with them in the UK, too.
