Lenny Kravitz - Circus (but only listening to about half of it)
The Black Crowes - Amorica
Stan Kenton - Sketches on Standards
Lou Donaldson - Alligator Bogaloo
R.E.M. - Live CD 1 and Accelerate
Lou Donaldson just keeps making me grin.
The Crowes and Kravitz went in when I wanted some rawk. The Kravitz is
overly slick and monotonous and preachy, but there are four or five
songs I keep wanting to hear. The Crowes album is really good -- I'd
completely forgotten I had it.
I'm not actually listening to the Kenton much any more. I put it in
after Buddy Childers died, a couple of years ago. Every time I
reshelve it, another one of those guys dies, most recently Pete Candoli
this January (and I'm not even sure he's on this recording). I think
I'll just leave it in for a few years.
