I'm with you on the first of those but DJ is OK and I really like MSR.
Four good songs, four great ones and three clunkers ain't bad going 28
years in.

Their last really good album.

I've also been listening to Black Mountain's new one (sorry Andy, not
convinced) and revisiting Kevin Coyne at the Midland Hotel Derby from 1979
(look out for this on whatevershebringswesing soon) and Bonnie Prince
Billy, including hs fine cover of Kevin's 'I Confess'.

Oh, and a lot of Drive By Truckers, especially Southern Rock Opera.

Lenny Kravitz - Circus (but only listening to about half of it)
The Black Crowes - Amorica
Stan Kenton - Sketches on Standards
Lou Donaldson - Alligator Bogaloo
R.E.M. - Live CD 1 and Accelerate

Lou Donaldson just keeps making me grin.

The Crowes and Kravitz went in when I wanted some rawk. The Kravitz is
overly slick and monotonous and preachy, but there are four or five
songs I keep wanting to hear. The Crowes album is really good -- I'd
completely forgotten I had it.

I'm not actually listening to the Kenton much any more. I put it in
after Buddy Childers died, a couple of years ago. Every time I
reshelve it, another one of those guys dies, most recently Pete Candoli
this January (and I'm not even sure he's on this recording). I think
I'll just leave it in for a few years.

Oops, no -- Maynard Ferguson. Childers died one of the times I took it
out.
