Supernatural Superserious

So a new song is out and no posts here.

The first time through, I thought it was about Huckabee's kid hanging a
dog at summer camp. <http://www.newsweek.com/id/78241>

Very catchy. Falls somewhere in the orbit of Imitation of Life for
me, in a head-bobbing way. With the end of Stand. I really like Mike's
bass and Scott's guitar. (Ok, I have no idea if it's Scott -- I'm just
imagining them live. The part that's clearly Peter, meh.)

I should probably stop listening to it streaming from remhq and wait for
the album, else it's going to wear out pretty quickly. Has Stipe ever
rhymed so much? Should he quit writing second-person lyrics? No and
yes, I think.

Now I think it's all Peter's doing, with very little from Scott, but
it's hard for me to tell with this streaming version. And change
"like" to "love" for the bass.

And now with a decent rip of the song, I've got better separation and
all I can say is that there is/are too much/many guitar(s) on this
song. I didn't think I'd ever think that about an R.E.M. song in this
millennium.

Ok, four posts to myself are enough for today. Hope I didn't scare
you too badly with the post count, Eric.

Oh, and <http://www.rem.sk/> is a good site for R.E.M., um, stuff.

(Tap tap.) Is this thing on? Is this a private line?

Phew, it does kinda work. I'm going to erase that thought from my mind
now.

It is catchy. I wasn't going to play the whole thing, but there it was
and it is a single, so...

Yup, 2 plays and no more till April for me, otherwise I think I'll wear
it out.

Aye.

been listening to the new song, excited for the new album and even
more so for seeing them at SXSW next month when I head to Austin!

I barely visit this group since it seems to have a spammer posting
regularly. anyway to block those?!

I hadn't listened to enough to realize that. Can't we start laughing
at it now?

I'm jealous. I tried hard to justify the trip, but I can't. Have fun!

Mmm, not reading at Google, no. I don't see much spam because my news
server filters almost all of it. IIRC, the stuff here is mostly the
MI5 spam
-- that should be easy enough to filter if you switch from the
web to a newsreader, and the people in news.software.readers could help.
(But if you top-post, they'll become apoplectic and unable to help.)
