I'd venture to say most of us have heard this stuff.

There were a few gems, but most of it was trash that got sold back to
used record stores two years later.

If you want Brand Nubian there's way better tracks than this.
> KMD - Sweet Premium Wine

See above.
> Quasimoto - Discipline 99

Never really ben a fan.
> De La Soul - Breakadawn
> Sir Melenik, Grand Puba, Sadat X - 7XL
> Mos Def - Mrs. Fat Booty
> Wu Tang Clan - Cream
> MF Doom - Dead Bent

I don't think this really highlights the best of the 90s indy records.

Back to the DJing issues. You look nervous. LIke you're scared, or
don't know how to work the tables or something. LIke everything is
calculated and you're scared you're gonna mess up. If that's the case
then you shouldn't be putting up videos or doing live performances.

Secondly, why are you running the pitch on those records at like +7?
If you have to pitch a record up that high to make it blend you
shouldn't be mixing it. Generally I never go beyond +/-2%% with Hip-Hop
records. EDM and flat out breaks can take more abuse if there's no
vocals. There's the old argument that pitching up a record gives it
more 'energy,' but in that case you're still pushing it too far.

Third, your scratches are off beat. Work on that. You dropped the De
La record off beat and you're recording with the levels too hot. Stop
trying to ride the pitch all the time and letting the records spin like
they're magically going to stay on beat; ride the label with your
fingers after the pitch is as close as it will get on the slider.

I think you should work on blending and tighten that up. Then you can
work on scratches on the side over instrumentals to tighten that up.
Do that for a year or two years after you get home from school and then
post videos. Not dissing, just saying
-- my friend from middle/high
school has tapes of me from when I was 12 or 13 and my face turns red
whenever he plays them.
