You're talking about lists again.

Then maybe some day you could extract your head out of *there*, as you
put it.

How can any kind of music fan not like solo artists? That's not a
genre of music -- it's the description of an organizational chart.
Someone who likes early rock 'n roll will like at least some music by
Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, etc. Someone who likes
classic rock will like at least some music by Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix,
Neil Young, David Bowie, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen,
etc. Someone who likes early punk/new wave will like at least some
music by Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, Patti Smith, etc. Someone who
likes funk and r&b will like at least some music by James Brown,
Stevie Wonder, Prince, etc. Banishing an entire subset of some the
greatest rock artists in history is simply absurd.

(Side point: Although both Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty also put
out "pure" solo albums, the E-Street Band and the Heartbreakers are as
legitimate as any of the bands you left in.)

Next.
