Sure there are similarities. Both existed on the same planet, were
subject to gravity, time etc.
But were there significant differences musically? I mean, when you
consider that the universe is infinite, and time goes on for eternity,
is there that much of a difference between anything?

Yes. The Monkees generally had vocals and Miles generally didn't.
Other than that, no.

We thankfully haven't been treated to the release of
"The Complete Headquarters Sessions" and "The
Complete Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd.
Sessions" box sets.
As far as I know.

It's odd times like this where I am reminded of (and so enjoy) the fact
that Hendrix opened for the Monkees for a little while in 1967.

Actually, he does. In a parallel universe where he lived and Barry
Manilow choked on his own vomit in 1970.
Janis Joplin is still a frequent guest. As is former President Robert
Kennedy.
