Surf pop? Is that even a valid genre. Byrds were among the first of
the pyschedelic bands along with Yardbirds. They were also among the
first folk rock bands.

They have a lot of memorable tracks. Touch Me, LA Woman, Riders on the
Storm, Love Her Madly, Break on Through, Hello I love You, The End....
the list is endless.

I can hear the quality of their manufactured smooth stufff. Just that
I dont that quality deserves much recognition. To me they were another
Dire Straits.

They had a lot of memorable RAWK songs and all time classics, like
Sweet Emotion, Walk the Way, Dream On the mid 70s and that counts more
than say .... Steely Dam.

Still they dont do jack for me. Their vocalist is by far the worst
vocalist I have ever heard.

All their songs sound the same. The only song of theirs which mattered
is Once in a Lifetime.

They have a lot of catchy and dancey songs. Also they rocked for a new
wave band. Call Me, Atomic, Hangin on the telephone etc.
