Joseph Stefano, who wrote the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and was co-creator of
TV's sci-fi anthology series "The Outer Limits," passed away at age 84 on August 25.

I had found, for the most part (and still do on reruns), TOL, to be
incredibly imaginative and provocative. Obviously a very talented
writer. RIP. CB

I was watching one of the newer Outer Limits yesterday and in the end
credits is mentions "for Joseph Stefano" or some such at the end.
Wow. that's truly bizarre. It was the remake about the Ebonites, but
this time they did injure the oriental guy.
The OL was my favorite show when I was a kid in the '60s. I've since
watched them all again (have them all on VHS tape) and realized that
they were truly cheesy! But I still love 'em...
By the way, I always wanted some trinket from the show. Some big old
bleeping computer part thingie or whatever. One night, I was watching
one of the old shows and sure enough, I have a file cabinet that is
exactly like those commonly used in the show! Right down to the same
number of drawers and the markings are perfectly matched!
Ah, the Outer Limits... Now that was "progressive". :)
[ Psst... not to take ANYTHING away from Rod Serling, mind you. ]

Stephano was a shining light to any child of the 60s. A sci-fi
visionary who never let the "monster of the week" pinheads at the
network get him down.

I hear it was pretty good, but Rod Serling's most famous creation
absolutely smoked it.
Well, most of the time, "Showdown with Rance McGrew" notwithstanding.

That is so cool! You have a file cabinet just like one on a TV show? I
wonder where they got theirs? Maybe a furniture store?
Wow! Neato!

I read somewhere that most of the 'computers' (panels with
dials and blinking lights) for OL came from the old set of 'Forbidden
Planet'

There were some cheesier TZ than TOL episodes, back in the day. Also,
some GREAT B&W cinematography that holds up today. Ahhh, to be young
again, eh?
