The best ten songs of the Moody Blues (Greatest Hits?) vs. the best ten
songs by YES-
Which band was better in terms of producing hits? I remember the Moody Blues
were a big player and had a ton of hits in the early 1970s (late 60s?). Was
YES ever on the same level?
Now, 35-40 years later, which band holds up better? Do the Moody Blues sound
more dated? Is YES more relevant?

Neither was a hitmaker (as they weren't "singles" bands), but the Moodies
placed more singles near the top of the charts than YES did.
The Moodies were considered progressive in their day, but nowhere close to
the level of experimentation that YES provided.
Both relied on solid musicianship and gorgeous melodic arrangements. For me
the Moodies best 10 had an unforced, almost ethereal quality with the best
singing and harmonizing this side of the Beach Boys, while YES' best 10 were
epic, sweeping songs put together with an almost mechanical precision.

What are they?

Moodies.

No you don't. You weren't around then. You looked it up.

No.

I think the Moodies stood the test of time better. Yes comes across as
more dated.

Next up and every bit as relevant today, Fabian vs, Bobby Darin.

Indeed, a curse on both their houses. Yes is a prog joke perpetrated on
drug addled idiots. The Moody Blues were a decent pop band that went bad.
Bobby Darin was a brilliant singer/songwriter. Fabian was not as bad as
people say, but he was relatively mediocre.

Bobby did a killer version of "Piece of my Heart".

Yes wins by a landslide. The only three Moodies songs which can hold
up to Yes' best are Ride My See Saw, Nights in White Satin, Tuesday
Afternoon

NONE! Both were album bands.

Moody Blues are a bit dated but not as much as the Beatles or the
Stones.

Raja, you really are a moron.
The Grumpy Brummies released loads of singles in the sixties.
