Let's help Raja

I'm entirely serious. It's fun to bust Raja's balls, and I've done it
as much as anyone here. But it's the 21st Century, and there are real
live bands out there playing music today that Raja might enjoy, based
on his often expressed affection for Zep, Yes and Floyd. He's never
going to get to go and see Pink Floyd, but someday he could probably
go see Pure Reason Revolution:

who seem to me to be the closest thing to a modern Pink Floyd. Back in
the 1970s when every kid with $5 to buy a record was into Pink Floyd
thanks to DSOTM, the cooler kids were into Gong or VDGG. Here in the
aughts, the kids who would have been into Gong or VDGG in the 70s are
into The Espers:

Hell, I'm one of those kids from back then, and I think the Espers are
great. I've got their records and play them often, and I'd buy a
ticket in a minute if they ever were to show up in my town.

I haven't really kept up with modern hard rock bands in the Led Zep
mode, but I'm hoping someone here will suggest a modern Zeppish band
for Raja to check out. I'm sure they're out there.

I saw them 2 years ago opening for Stereolab in Toronto and they blew
me away. It may have been one of those situations when you come for
the main act and you feel like leaving after you saw the opener. What
I saw onstage was what and how I too would have wanted to say
musically. Since they were ahead in the game, I would have had to find
another niche. Spoke to Brooke Sietinsons after the show and also to
the bass player, who also used percussion sticks on bass. In Philly,
he told me, each of them plays in 2-3 bands. Got two of their CD-s.
They had another one since then.
