How in the heck is In the Court of Crimson King progressive rock?

I must like this album. But it is not the first prog rock album as it
is touted to be.

It is not prog rock at all.

21st century Schizoid Man is pretty much heavy psychedelic rock with a
bit of metallic riffiing. Moonchild is jazz noodling with some
pyschedelia.

And the rest of it sounds like Moody Blues but the melody is not as
strong.

How in the world is everyone considering this as the first prog rock
album? I think the first proper prog rock album goes to H To He Who Am
The Only One and immediately after that The Yes Album which is
probably the second prog album.

For me, prog rock consists of long compositions with changing tempos
in a rock context. In the Court of KC has none. It is mostly jamming.
If that album is prog so are all the Santana albums.

I wasnt planning to post, but as I was listening to ITCOKC, I was
amazed, that that is considered prog!

Really one final post. No more posts. I thought it was important what
the real prognerds think on this subject. I dont think I can find
bigger prog psychos anywhere else.

So did Aerosmith. I don't think anyone considers them prog.

Kind of reminds me of a weatherman's report one evening: "We're about
to experience a back door front."

Funny, I've never heard of a "front door back" until his reply.
