What makes a great rock band? Its the albums... damn it! So I am gonna
rate the 10 best albums of 10 best rock bands (death/black metal bands
excluded) and see which band comes at the top.
I decided to pick two types of bands...
1) Bands which made classics in a short period (for these guys I threw
in live albums too)
2) Bands which made consecutive classics over a long period (for these
guys I considered only the studio albums)
I am using these factors to only chose bands which were on the roll.
Since only 10 will be chosen, it makes sense to pick those kind of
bands. I chose the first 5 on RYM all time album list for both groups.
I consider an album as a classic if it makes top 2500 of RYM all time
list.
Group 1 (Bands which had 5 studio + live classics in 5 years)
Beatles, Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Yes
Group 2 (Bands which had 5 consecutive studio classics)
Pink Floyd*, Black Sabbath, Can, Iron Maiden, Van Der Graaf Generator

Oh, boy! I wonder what bands it will include.

Why?

Setting your specific criteria as always, so that bands *which* you
like are assured to make the list.

Or as they'd call themselves, THE Grateful Dead.
