These days even Pink Floyd members (Waters, Gilmour and Mason) dismiss
Atom Heart Mother as garbage. But, I always felt this was a very good
album, hugely underrated. Alan Psychedelic Breakfast is one of my
favorite instrumentals of all time. The title track is a bit overlong
but has a fantastic orchestral backing and great melody throughout.
The three shorter songs are good too with Summer'68 being my
favorite.
Meddle is similar in structure to AHM but less risky IMO. And I prefer
Floyd when they do less safe stuff. Echoes is another great epic like
AHM suite but it seems again a bit overlong. It could be a nice 10
minute song or so. One of these Days does not match Alan Psychedelic
Breakfast by any means even though it is a good song. The shorter
songs have a problem of sounding a bit similar to each other. I like
Pillow of Winds the best of that lot.
Going song by song...

When I saw Pink Floyd in 1975, the first set was two songs that would
eventually appear on Animals, Dogs and Sheep, but at the time they were
introduced as You Gotta Be Crazy and Raving and Drooing. They finished
the set with Shine on You Crazy Diamond, from the Wish You Were Here
album which hadn't been released yet either.
The second set was Dark Side of the Moon, and the encore was Echoes.
The female back-up singers and sax player that performed during DSOTM
were worked into Echoes as well.
