The '50s stuff is pretty typical fare, and in line with the rest of it
(pop-oriented and obvious). There is a huge gap in doo-wop, with the
most surprising omission being that nothing from The Cadillacs is
listed. I'd pick "My Girlfriend," but most would probably pick
"Speedo" or "My Girlfriend."
Picks from individual artists tend to lean to middle-of-the-road. The
Same Cooke selections omit "Twistin' the Night Away," and there' no
"I'm Walking'" from Fats Domino. I'm surprised that Bobby Darin is
omitted entirely, although his actual rock output is spare. And three
Bo Diddley selections? One would suffice.
The fact there's more Queen than Fats Domino tells you a lot.
Also funny that the lone George Harrison entry is "My Sweet Lord," but
no "He's So Fine."The Arranger
