Raja once again publishes a totally bs list from the inside of his,
shall I say it, ass.
Here are a couple of things I found interesting about this list:
1.) Rory Storm and the Hurricanes is on this list. What's interesting
is that this band is only recognized in certain circles as the band
that "Ringo Starr left." There maybe some people in the Merseybeat
scene that might think higher of this group, but without Ringo having
been a member I doubt they would have ever gotten the notoriety that
they did. Didn't one producer remark that Rory's voice was too shaky
for a record deal?
2.) Zoot Money's Big Roll Band is on this list. I remember going to a
concert where they shared the bill with Pink Floyd sometime in '67
(wiki says they went by a different name here) I was interested in
this band especially Money, who was ten times more of a flamboyant
frontman than Robert Plant. It was interesting because Money would
keep a beer bottle and smoke a couple of cigars on stage when he
performed. However, I believe this group deserves The News' spot. The
band was interesting, but not enough to be considered among the
greatest of the Invasion scene.
3.) John Mayall's position. Why is his position lower than The
Searchers?
4.) Who in the hell are 80 percent of these bands anyway?
