I remember it well. For me it was a letdown from the imo brilliant 'A Trick
of the Tale.' I dutifully bought the next one, 'And Then There Were Three',
which was hugely disappointing, and other than the live 'Seconds Out' I
never bought another Genesis album.

That tour was when Phil could first sing - the 11th Earl opening still
has never been matched. also the last year phil had hair - and looked
pretty cool cutting it short finally on this tour - better than that
1986 "lotta hair in the back, lotta glare up front look.
merry xmas!

I know I have posted this about 1,764 times in this newsgroup, but for
those of you who may have missed it...
I was at the two Shea Stadium concerts, 8/15/65 and 8/23/66
respectively. Being my birth month, I was 15 at the first and 16 at
the second.
The difference in the sound quality was very noticeable from one year
to the other.
I was way up in the third deck of the late great Shea Stadium in 1965,
and had Field Level seats in 1966. In the latter concert, The Beatles
borrowed the sound system used by one of the opening acts, the
Remains, which was more sophisticated than their own, and the stadium
P.A. system.
In 1965, up in nose-bleed territory, I couldn't hear The Beatles
playing or singing very well. There were 55,000 screaming fans,
mostly girls...you couldn't even hear the sounds of the jets flying
over head landing at LaGuardia airport...that's how loud. However, as
a boy, not screaming and wailing like my sister and her friends, I had
a slight advantage in being able to hear.
