The Big Picture New Arts (including music) Versus Old Media

Author: Tom Hendricks / Musea
Date: Aug 19, 2008 09:27

Readers: I often end my comments online with “New Century, new
everything! That means for me this is a new era in the arts and media.
I think many are beginning to see that, but the media is one
collective group that does not.

Here is a list of the new art and media developments that the old
media refuses to acknowledge or talk about. Come on you dinosaurs in
electronic and print media end the boycott against what’s new and
creative, and come out of last century!

NEW LIST

1. Zines and Blogs NOT novels

2. Youtube films NOT Hollywood films

3. Post Modern Art - NOT the gallery/ museum art system

4. Post Bands Music - NOT 50 year old rock

5. No ad online newspapers - NOT ad driven media

6. No ad review sites - NOT ad driven review sites

7. All purpose art centers - NOT separate museums, libraries, concert
halls.

8. FIrst world culture through the internet - NOT separate regional
cultures only.

capturing a sound out of an old synth?

Author: waltbrad

Hi there. I'm working on this song, (really just a musical phrase),
that I stumbled on while playing on an old Korg DW-6000. I was using
the default settings on that Korg - the ones that are set when you
turn the thing on. The piece does not have the same effect at all
without that sound.

So, I use a computer to pretty much capture my song ideas, but I have
to way to replicate that sound through MIDI that I know of.

So, I figure there are two options, (neither of which I know how to
utilize):

* Find a way to capture the sample that the synthesizer uses.

* Recreate the sound using software synths that I have available in
Propellerhead's Reason. But, I'm really pretty much a novice at using
those.

Does anyone know of a link that might help me with the first option?

Thanks.

Anyone know what the technical specifics of this means (e.g. would
this be the same requirements as those required by Tunecore for
uploads)?

No, I wouldn't hold my breath on that if I were you... but meanwhile,
here's a new bit of poetry-song for you to comment and critique on and
on... written last week with Conley and Woolfolk...

Light over the Ridge

I know exactly how you feel,
and God gave you permission to spill it.
There's no one to judge,
you're still so fine,
I'm just too crippled now to grudge it.
At this truck stop diner,
snapping in the rain...
