Legendary drummer Carmine Appice is a man in constant motion, flailing
away behind a drum kit and playing music that looks back, as well as
presses forward. A founding member of both Vanilla Fudge and Cactus,
Appice is currently spending most of his time developing SLAMM, a
theatrical drum troupe he's created that's making waves on ESPN and
concert stages. We sat down with the prolific timekeeper, and talked
about SLAMM, Vanilla Fudge, Cactus and his work with Jeff Beck, Rod
Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd and many others. Along with our
