Would anyone here have seen KK play this track? Is it performed/
recorded using one of these 'modelling' guitars or has she been using
an oud or something similar. It's a bit magical, innit. If it is a
modelling guitar, would the slurs' particulars be built in to the
sound's data or manually achieved?
Thanks.

It's a great track, people on the ng should check it out!

I don't know what it is, but an oud is a definite possibility!
I don't think it's a modelled sound - if it is I am mightily impressed.
If you want that sound yourself on a budget, you can get some cool
sounds by sliding stuff under the strings at the first fret, or bewteen
the strings at the bridge. Like bits of paper, plastic, etc. It kills
the sustain and can either add or remove attack, depending on the
softness of what you use.

you can also pluck on the nut side and it sounds better!

Have you heard the track? I don't think that method can be right, as
it's mostly fretted notes. I don't see how you could play regular
fretted notes with that method. The bends she does are quite tame enough
to have been done in the normal way.
HOWEVER I am now going to try the pencil trick anyway! I am quite
excited about it. I found this video:

Actually sounds pretty good to me!

I may have had a memory failure, as it transpires I'd been involved in
a posting where the answer was before. Search - obscurely enough! -
Kaki king Nails:
"This is a 'hidden' track on the CD. David had brought this tiny
guitar
he'd made called a 'kotar'. When you plucked a string with your right
hand and then bent the string with your left, it makes a 'biong'
sound
like a koto. I would sit on the couch and play the kotar when I had a
break, and this song just came out."
So now I'm thinking about finding some cheap instrument to adapt to
try and get this sound. Possibly one of the oriental instruments at
hobgoblin.co.uk
