dekh ke akelii mohe barkhaa sataaye
Baazi.. Geeta Roy..SDBurman

I have a vague recollection that this tune was also
used for a song in some other regional language,
most probably Marathi or Gujerati.

Would appreciate stats of the song if it really existed.

Amal - A simple story with a profound meaning

Author: Srinivas Ganti

Yesterday I got the opportunity to watch the local premiere of this
movie. It is earning accolades
in film festivals around the world. I enjoyed the movie thoroughly and
would highly recommend it.

The movie is set in Delhi and depicts the story of an Auto Driver,
Amal Kumar (Rupinder Nagra).
Once he ferries G.K Jayaram (Naseruddin Shah) and that meeting changes
GK's life for ever.

There have been a lot of movies about the lives of NRI's and second
generation indians.
This movie draws the rich experiences of a second generation indian
director, Richie Mehta,
and is quite different from the usual fare.

Some of the scenes from the movie interspersed with the director's
interview can be seen here

Those Goldie days: remembering Vijay Anand by Raju Bharatan (HT : 25/02/2008 )

Author: shooganprotect-cold
Date: Feb 28, 2008 00:30

The Saturday gone by was the fourth death anniversary of Goldie Vijay
Anand - a cineaste influencing a whole generation of filmmakers as a
writer director ahead of his time.

Why did Goldie also fade away ahead of his time? "Unlike with even
Kalyanji Anandji," explained Goldie, "I found I had to wait in a queue
for my Rajput music session with Laxmikant-Pyarelal."

"Habitually," continued Goldie, "I made my music at a leisured sitting
with Dada Burman. "Goldie ko gaana pasand nahein aaya," Dada'd tell
wife Meera later if I failed to respond to his six tunes for the
situation outlined."

View points
"That'd make Dada," added Goldie, "do six more tunes inside the week
during which I'd be back. True, even on Dada Burman I couldn't barge
in if he was working on, say, a Pramod Chakrabarty film. Dada would
then tongue-lash me for disturbing him!"

"But two-three days later," reminisced Goldie, "Dada'd himself call.
After that, all of Dada's time was mine. It was in such an ambient
setting that Guide tunes like Kaaton se kheench ke yeh aanchal took
shape."

  Meaning please

Author: Artnut

Hi all,

I admit I do not have even decent--now it depends how 'decent' is
interpreted, so it is left open for interpretations-- knowledge of Urdu.
Earlier most Hindi songs had were liberally interspersed with Urdu words.
Recent times, with songs devoid of poetry and meaning, one seldom hears any
Urdu words.

Dard e Disco--- now whatever that means, from OSO has quite some Urdu words
which I couldn't understand.

Ok my question is what does Arsh means.
The song
Ishq mera bandagi hain, ishq meri zindagi hain
Aashiqon ka arsh dera, Ashiqon ka farsh dera.

Bandagi= Ibaadat or prayer.
Farsh=Floor
Dera=Abode
Then whats Arsh? Ceiling? sky?

Also what does rusvaaiyaan mean?

Mere hamraah bhi rusvaaiyaan hai mere maazi ki.

Thanks in advance!

  MD: I.H.Qureshi

Can any Pakistani music lover enlighten me about the above MD who has
given music JOINTLY( mostly ) in quite a good no.of films between the
period: 1948-60 in Pakistan.

He has mostly partnered G.A.Chisti & Nazir Hussain Jaffrey. Has he
composed music in any film independently?

Incidently, NAVELI ('52) credits Qureshi as the MD in Mustaq Gaddar's
filmography.

Mr Urzungsaab to comment, please !

Can anyone provide information about Marwari Records lebel and songs
released by it. Request if any group member have records of that lebel
in his collection to provide scanned copy of the lebel and sound
excerpts in MP3 format if possible.
I am writing a paper on contribution of Rajasthan in recorded music of
India.
