A query on number of songs by Yesudas, SPB etc

Author: AR

The number of songs sungs by the leading singers of the Hindi filmdom
has been carefully calculated and comprehensive song listings exists.
It is well-known since more than a decade that none of these legendary
singers have come anywhere close to the opt-repeated magical figures
such as 30,000 or 40,000 in terms of the number of songs that they
have sung. I was wondering whether similar song listings or
calculations exist for the number of songs sung by legendary singers
of south Indian films - K J Yesudas, S P Balasubramaniam, P Susheela
and others. For instance, the following website on K J Yesudas (and
perhaps his official website ??) makes the claim that he sang 30,000
songs, but cites no references whatsoever:

http://www.yesudas.com/php/showContent.php?linkid=2

I have read articles about him claiming that he sang 40,000 songs.
There exists an interview of SPB, where the interviewer asks him as to
how come he managed to sing 20,000 or 30,000 songs, with as many as 20
songs a day. SPB's answer is interesting. See the following link:

Linguistic Diversity in Bollywood Songs ..

Author: vishinnj

A friend of mine just sent me an email with the subject line
"Celebrating India's linguistic diversity". It referred to an article
by Shashi Tharoor. Google it, its worth reading.

The article set me thinking. Which are the songs (from Hindi movies)
that have the most non-Hindi languages interspersed in them. For
example:

(a) arre bhai nikal ke aa ghar se - by KK - has marathi, bangla in the
antaras
(b) a tableau song from Pyaar Ki Pyaas has several languages in it.
The song is: uttar mein hai khadaa himalay, dakshin mein saagar
vishaal, paschim mein panjaab kaa peharaa, poorab ka prahari
bangaal ... etc. etc ....bolo yeh hai kis kaa desh

There are many more .. i thought this is a list worth making ... but
keep it to 'songs that have Hindi plus at least three more languages'
and include 'English' too. (So, 'angrezi mei kehte hai ki i-love-you'
would count. It has hindi, gujrati, bangla, english).

The person who comes up with the song that has the highest number of
non-hindi languages in it gets an extra helping of dessert at the next
RMIM east coast meet.
