On my recent trip to India I found tons videos of
Hindi movies released by Moser Baer.
Prices are VCDs (Rs 24-26) and DVDs (Rs 34-38).
On further investigation, I found that many of right holders such as
Bombino, Indus, etc. got
together and got Moser Baer, second largest blank audio/video media blanks
to produce
movies in one step. This has turned out to be a great success. These right
holders just collect
royalty and don't have the hassle of buying blanks, burning videos and
market them.
Quality is also great - Moser Baer markets with a money back guaranty. They
also specify name of
the original right holder of the movie. Videos also come with a build-in
player, making them just
put-in and play.
It just doe not pay to even make a coy of videos when one can buy original
for cheap.
Of course, not all videos are available with them.

All the three (3) titles in one film song. Its a marvel of a musical
composition, beautifully orchestrated.
Has any one heard it?

dekh ke akelii mohe barkhaa sataaye
Baazi.. Geeta Roy..SDBurman
I have a vague recollection that this tune was also
used for a song in some other regional language,
most probably Marathi or Gujerati.
Would appreciate stats of the song if it really existed.

Yesterday I got the opportunity to watch the local premiere of this
movie. It is earning accolades
in film festivals around the world. I enjoyed the movie thoroughly and
would highly recommend it.
The movie is set in Delhi and depicts the story of an Auto Driver,
Amal Kumar (Rupinder Nagra).
Once he ferries G.K Jayaram (Naseruddin Shah) and that meeting changes
GK's life for ever.

There have been a lot of movies about the lives of NRI's and second
generation indians.
This movie draws the rich experiences of a second generation indian
director, Richie Mehta,
and is quite different from the usual fare.
Some of the scenes from the movie interspersed with the director's
interview can be seen here

The Saturday gone by was the fourth death anniversary of Goldie Vijay
Anand - a cineaste influencing a whole generation of filmmakers as a
writer director ahead of his time.
Why did Goldie also fade away ahead of his time? "Unlike with even
Kalyanji Anandji," explained Goldie, "I found I had to wait in a queue
for my Rajput music session with Laxmikant-Pyarelal."
"Habitually," continued Goldie, "I made my music at a leisured sitting
with Dada Burman. "Goldie ko gaana pasand nahein aaya," Dada'd tell
wife Meera later if I failed to respond to his six tunes for the
situation outlined."
View points
"That'd make Dada," added Goldie, "do six more tunes inside the week
during which I'd be back. True, even on Dada Burman I couldn't barge
in if he was working on, say, a Pramod Chakrabarty film. Dada would
then tongue-lash me for disturbing him!"
"But two-three days later," reminisced Goldie, "Dada'd himself call.
After that, all of Dada's time was mine. It was in such an ambient
setting that Guide tunes like Kaaton se kheench ke yeh aanchal took
shape."
