The commercially available recording of the Aftab-e-Mausiqi singing
this Bhairavi Dadra is well known. I have been trying to decipher the
lyrics of the Urdu verse he places in the middle of the rendition, but
only get it in bits and pieces. I know the rhyme scheme is along the
lines of "...Raat Na Thi, ...Baat Na Thi, ...Mulaaqaat Na Thi", etc.,
but was wondering if someone better acquainted with the recording
might be able to fill in the blanks.

When I played this ( unheard by me so far ) new 78rpm this morning, to
find out the identity of the voice....trust me: I did it after
carefully listening upto the end of the first antara. It was none
other than PARUL GHOSH..100 %%. This I could establish only when her
voice at that instance was on a crescendo and instantly lowered. I
could successfuly spot that 'slight nasal-tone' in her voice.

The song is truly melodious; Pyar karo rey...

The HFGK, volume 5 (page 48) lists Pyarelal as one of the three
assistants to the music Director Jaidev for the movie Reshma Aur Shera
(1971). Is this the Pyarelal of the Laxmikant Pyarelal duo?

Jaikishen (of Shankar-Jaikishen) was born in 1929 and died in 1971. A
lifespan of only 42 years !!! A real loss for us music-lovers. Does
anybody know what he died from ?
Google did not help.
