Listen on http://cinemasangeet.com, Dev Anand's delightfully candid
comments on his legendary romance with Suraiya, his love marriage with
Kalpana Kartik and his impressions on Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and
Gregory Peck.

Lovely song from the latest movie "taare zameen par" produced and
directed by Aamir Khan. Music is by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. What
stands out in this song is the lyrics by Prasoon Joshi, there are some
brilliant lines ("jaise binaa matalab kaa pyaaraa rishataa ho koi",
"jaise ba.nsii ko_ii bajaaye peDo.n ke tale" etc)
Music by SEL is different, very refreshing, the kind of song that grow
on you. Anyway, here are the lyrics, I am certainly not sure about
some of the words, as usual, please post corrections,
Cheers,
Prasanna

Saigal's songs so dominated the films in which he
appeared, that female songs (other than the rare duets)
rarely get a mention at all.
Two of my favorites come from Saigal's latter-day films
- ghaTaa ghanaghor bhor-bhor machaaye shor (Tansen '43)
- jab us ne gesu bikharaaye baadal aayaa jhuum ke (Shahjahan '46)
the latter of which I had the distinct pleasure of re-hearing
yesterday after a long time.
Khursheed's ab raaja bhaye more baalam from Tansen is also nice
Any others that RMIMers would want to recommend?
Vijay

Hi all,
Perhaps apocryphal, but I have heard the Mohd. Rafi refused to sing any
bhajans or such Hindu devotional songs after his Hajj pilgrimage. Is this
true? True or not, many such stories go around when some one reaches stardom
or achieves some fame. Weird things I heard that Amitabh Bacchan still owes
some paan walla an amount of Rs.150. Or that Jackie dada was indeed a dada
of some area in Malabar Hill in Mumbai. Mithun used to sell kaanda-batata.
I heard true things like Dilip Kumar used to be a fruit vendor.
Johnny Walker sold icecreams and then got a job as conductor in BEST to
fulfill his desire of seeing Bombay.
Regards,
Arty

A few months back someone (Vijay Kumar?) had mentioned posting the
next RJGK quiz. What happened to it? Was it posted and did I miss
it?
