Hi RMIMers:

The UC San Diego library has volume 1, issues 1-4 and volume 2, issues,
six issues in all. This was a 'scholarly' cinema magazine published by
Siddharth Kak in the early 80s and then it stopped.

Does anybody know if there were more issues besides these 6?

  Poll verdict from RMIMers ( refer Prof's post of Dec.27 / 2006 )

Author: sjhhhtm

Gentlemen:

Starting afresh and with malice towards none , I seek an "unprejudiced"
poll opinion.versict on Prof's above post of 27th Dec/2006.

Since Prof has equivocally stated that :

1) the concerned (any) Rafi song must NOT HAVE BEEN ENLISTED in any of
the GK - I, II & III (others
not needed and can be ignored in this case) as well as Megani's
and the other authors as well.my
contention is:

IF IT IS PROVED (taking into account Prod's stipulations as stated
by him) that the ENTRIES in GK-II
of HH as welll as in the publications of the other authors are
INCORRECT., what then !! Do I stand
eligible for the REWARD theoritically & practically ??

A reasonably good book as far as silent era goes .
> ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF INDIAN CINEMA by Ashish Rajadhyaksah & Paul Willemen

Considering the high cost of the book it is rather
unfortunate Rajadhyaksha has omitted many
music directors of 1930's and 40's .

One good book worth having in your collection
is by Feroze Rangoonwala . I donot recollect the
title at this time .

Cheers ,

A member ( Sukesh) in the group is asking group to list best/favourite
songs of various
Lyricists.Would it not be better if members are asked to list the song
written by any
Lyricist they like the most.
when name of Music director or singer is not demended I think he wants
songs which
are meaningful and literary gems.I appreciate his idea of not making
comments on other's
choice.

Interesting interview - Saregama Music CEO

Author: kcp
Date: Jan 6, 2007 20:56

Interview with Saregama Music CEO, Mr. Kulmeet Makkar
http://www.businessofcinema.com/2006/5jan/interview.htm
By Rohini Bhandari
(5 January, 2007)

How has 2006 been for Saregama Music?

2006 was a year of consolidation, wherein we have adopted and corrected
our ways of the delivery of music with changing market trends. The music
industry has seen changes in the way music is consumed, over the years,
due tothe changes in technology. In a period of three to five years,
there have been tremendous transitions. The entire music industry was
in the doldrums and Saregama also lost huge sums of money.

2004 and 2005 were revival years for the music industry, and we too
came out of the red and became a profitable company. So, 2006 has been a
year when we corrected our delivery formats with a lot more focus on
digital. We changed the way music was recorded and acquired. The kind
of music that is consumed has also changed, because consumers no longer
want sit within four walls and listen to music on cassettes, they want
to listen to music on their I pods while on the move.
