So, who's nephew or kid or whatever is Sean Kingston?

After he made an appearance on a NYE show, I find myself wondering who
he's related to. How else does a fat negro kid with absolutely no
stage presence, a singing voice that's unremarkable other than how
annoying it is, with a vocal range of maybe a 5th, become a pop star?

fake ass swagger by niggaz who really aint cool...

take for instance tonight on mtv flo-rida... he came across as somebody who
was never cool, but may have known some cool peeps in his life so he attempts
to act like them, but he cant pull it off... so his swagger is pointing to his stooopid
fucking chain about every 15 seconds because he cant figure out anything to say
that anybody would want to hear...

people talking about just how hot the south is when they have been doing the same
old shit for about ten years now, its just that the media has finally caught on...

take for instance, putting on a guy like flo-rida and saying that he is fresh, new, and
different... yes they said fresh, new, and different... (thats when i turned the channel)

bet being a second class mtv... for god sakes they are owned by the same people who
put mtv out now, even if they are going to film ghetto shit, cant they make it look like
the shit on mtv??? i mean fuck, if they can film "i love new york" and make it look decent,
surely they can do the same for the garbage on bet...

people thinking they are hiphop because they have on the newest jordans, rocca wear,
sean jean, shady, apple bottoms, etc., etc., etc., gear... stop being schleps buying that
bullshit, if you need that shit to get a girl or a guy, youre a fucking mark...

  "Hip Hop isn't music"

Author: rakmanenuff

LOL. There are some real idiots over on the alt.guitar.bass group,
repeatedly making the claim that Hip Hop isn't music.

The argument just doesn't hold up. And.. What year are they living in?

This thread is not about rap flows, rhymes, rap artists or producers,
more about music theory.
Sorry if this is long or if I come across as some wannabe music
professor.

Compared to Classical: The beat in Hip Hop is more repetitive and with
less variation, but it's also a lot STRONGER and more action packed
than classical grooves (yes, classical music grooves too). The...

Dirty Acres plus some other shit

Author: trey lathikes

Has anyone talked about Dirty Acres in here yet? It's one of the best albums
of the year. Kno needs to be more well known.

Of the other stuff i've purchased recently, that new PE disc is great, Flava
jams and all. 8 diagrams is growing on me and Big Doe Rehab is getting a few
spins. That new Kweli disc isn't getting much play, but there might be one
or two tracks that are decent. American Gangsta is growing on me, too. I
think i read TJ Xenos talk about Wayne on Hello Brooklyn being the best
thing on the album, or something like that. I kinda agree. For some reason i
always look forward to that verse.

What's up with Nappy Roots these days? have they released anything recently?

Saw PUTS play here in Sydney the other night. They were dope (seeing them
again next week). Blackalicious were on later in the night and pretty much
sucked thanks mainly to the in-house engineer turning it up to 11. They can
never get their levels right when singers back up rappers and drum kits back
up turntables. But i wan't feeling the Blackalicious performance anyway.

Anyone else seen Q-bert live? Anyone else get bored shitless? I mean, what
he does is cool for the first 5, maybe 10 minutes, but i can't take a whole
hour of that stuff.

Big L - The Big Picture

Listening to that intro is fucking depressing...

So much potential untapped.

I miss Big L more than Biggie - at least Mr Wallace already got a
taste of the fame he deserved before he was bumped off...

30 GIRLS BRAWL IN MALL OVER 1 BOY

Author: X-RAIDED
Date: Dec 30, 2007 21:36

(that "boy"'s name was Rob Cypher, I heard)

http://www.kctv5.com/news/14934661/detail.html

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- Dozens of girls fought -- possibly about a boy --
outside a mall on Wednesday, and the brawl ended with mall security
officers using pepper spray and police using Taser guns, authorities
said.

It happened outside an Applebees at Independence Center and involved
about 20 to 30 teenage girls, police said.

A mall security officer was injured trying to break up the fight.

Authorities were investigating whether the fight was related to two
scuffles on Christmas night.

A group of girls got into a fight at Ward Parkway Mall, and a brawl
broke out in a group of boys outside an AMC Theater across the street
from Independence Center.

"I just think it's scary that it can get that bad in a public place
where so many people are," said Mallory Cooper, a shopper.

TEEN MOTHER SHOT TO DEATH BY TEEN ROBBER WHO IS BEATEN TO DEATH AT THE SAME TIME BY HER BROTHERS

Author: X-RAIDED

(I have the youtube link to the actual videotape of the
incident; it's better than any hollywood movie...
reply to this post if interested)

http://www.ktvu.com/news/14916564/detail.html

CONCORD, Calif. -- Concord police are investigating the deaths of a teen
mother and a suspected robber who were killed during an apparent home-
invasion robbery.

Police say the 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in her townhome by
an intruder armed with a rifle early Sunday morning. Her brothers
allegedly killed the intruder after witnessing the girl get shot, Lt.
Andrew Gartner said.

The Contra Costa Coroner's Office said the robbery suspect, Sean Nelson,
22, died of strangulation and a blunt force head injury.

Police arrested Nelson's younger brother who was waiting outside in a
car during the robbery. Derrick Nelson, 18, was being held without bail
on suspicion of murder, burglary and robbery.
