The Seattle SuperSonics, 1979 NBA Champions, were euthanized today by
Oklahoma businessman Clay Bennett in exchange for a suitcase full of
$100 bills. And a pony. I'm pretty sure a pony was involved in there
somewhere.
They are survived by a broken NBA business model, which Oklahoma City
will immediately commence subsidizing.
Services are pending.

It sounds very good this evening.
Some distracting crowd noise.
Great jam.
Even Donna, toned down,
almost adds goodness.....

Went to see Gov't Mule & Ratdog last night at Humphrey's. It fuckin'
rocked. We got rooms at the resort for both nights even though I'm
working today and tomorrow as well as yesterday. Good news is the
venue is walking distance from here. Anyway, last night when we
checked in the desk clerk says "looks like you got a complimentary
upgrade. You're in one of the rooms overlooking the venue!!!!!" : O
Watched most of the show from the balcony of our mini-suite and some
from our good seats. All with known good party favors! It was
SOOOOOOOO SCHWEEEET!!!!!!! and after I get outta here I'm going back
for round 2.
WOOOoooooHOOOoooooo.......

OK, so this guy Michael Phelps is a phenom and the story line
here in the States is that this guy is going to attempt to best
Mark Spitz's record of 7 Olympic gold medals by winning 8.
But what's the big deal ? Swimming is a crock. It's like if
Track & Field had the 100 meter dash, the 100 meter dash running
backwards, the 100 meter dash running on your knees, the 400
meter run doing a Groucho impersonation and so on and so on.
Swimming events are way silly and there's way too many of them.
There oughta be three events in swimming; short distance, middle
distance and long distance. Period.

That Crimson post made me realise...
SOMEhow, I've been on a 70's / prog rock bent
as of late, and I dint even notice...
This week, I've downloaded/peeped:
Jethro Tull - Aqualung, This Was
Steve Hillage - L
Pink Floyd - Meddle, Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother
Zappa - Absolutely Free
Robin Trower - Twice Removed from Yesterday
Renaissance - Ashes are Burning
Rush - Different Stages ( The 1978 Hammersmith show!)
and I'm now listening to Renaissance "Live at Carnegie Hall"...
with orchestra!...I'll repeat that...WITH orchestra, fer krissakes!
Are demin flares and size 9 1/2 Frye Boots be far behind?
I think I'm in the full on throes of a mid age crisis.
Crisis?....WHAT Crisis....Supertramp, right?
Oh dear GOD!

Strongly recommend these shows.
Red Rocks was the US tour opener - they were missing a band member -
which I think led to the rest of the band stepping it up a bit. A great
Red Rocks crowd never hurts either. Don't let the "wind noise" warning
scare you - it was a very light breeze and is barely noticeable, if
noticeable at all. Knopfler is on top of his game on this night:

The Berkley show a few nights later is the full band, which means added
guitar, violin, and woodwinds (Knopfler jokes that he's the only guy in
his band who can only play 1 instrument). YMMV, but I like the scaled
back band better. But the sound quality of this tape is frankly amazing
and cannot be ignored:

Both of these are also available on dime - both are very well seeded
right now on the Knopfler TK tracker.
Have fun out there!!!
Gladys.
