5 The Thrill is Gone - Honeymoon Tapes '92
6 Sitting in Limbo - Honeymoon Tapes '92
OK, I read all about the honeymoon tapes and how they were stolen from
Ganz, etc, etc. But from what I read, they were early shows from the
70s.
So where did the 2 tracks from '92 listed above come from? The 2
tracks sound very nice! Could they be mislabeled?
Is this another conspiracy theory in the mix?
Should I check snopes? What's that helicopter noise I

"We can no longer rely on assurances from a US administration that
purports to uphold the civil and political standards of behaviour."
-- Andrew Tyrie MP

UK 'Must Check' US Torture Denial
BBC, 19 July 2008
The British government should not rely on US assurances that it does
not use torture, a report by MPs says...
In its report, the committee said: "Given the clear differences in
definition, the UK can no longer rely on US assurances that it does
not use torture, and we recommend that the government does not rely on
such assurances in the future."
The MPs also challenged the government to check more actively that
Britain had not been used by the Americans for so called "rendition"
flights - when detainees are taken to countries where bans on torture
may not apply.
The UK had repeatedly accepted assurances that it had not, but it was
discovered earlier this year that two rendition planes refuelled on
the British territory of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

I nice, cool summer night here in the Alps. After dinner, I crack open
a nice bottle of rosé from Touraine, plug in the iPod, and hit Shuffle
Songs. Friend of the Devil from 5/2/70 comes up, prompting me to listen
to about half of that great acoustic set.
I'm just sayin...

Liz Phair is revisiting 1993. That's when she released the seminal
indie-rock album "Exile in Guyville". We talked to Ms. Phair about a
musical experiment she conducted last year. After splitting with her
boyfriend, she made a iTunes playlist of the songs popping into her
head. Ms. Phair recommends the exercise to everyone: "It's like a
weird photograph of the way your mind works," a sort of therapy that
helped her through a rough patch--"That and actual therapy," she adds.
Here's a sampling of songs that emerged from her subconscious.
*Let's Make a Change, busbee
*Ripple, the Grateful Dead
The edgy rock culture Ms.Phair grew up in disdained music that smacked
of hippie nostalgia, such as this sunny 1970 anthem. But that mid-set
loosened its hold on her long ago. "I like punk, too, but its soul has
left the building. Now you can admit that you like this stuff."
*Never Let It Go, Butterfly Boucher
*Singin' in the Rain, Gene Kelly
*End of the Line, Traveling Wilburys

Give it a whirl if you've never heard it, or haven't listened in a
while. Extremely fun and upbeat performance, and the first of 2 great
shows to end Summer '84. Love the blistering China>Rider jam, and the
great O1. The whole second set is golden ("gold Jerry, gold!")
Shakedown Street, Little Red Rooster, Althea, Me & My Uncle-> Mexicali
Blues, China Cat Sunflower-> I Know You Rider-> Looks Like Rain->
Might As Well
Cold Rain & Snow-> Far From Me-> Truckin'-> Eyes Of The World-> Drums-
> The Other One-> Stella Blue-> Around & Around-> One More Saturday

Hybrid Cars Pose Risk to Blind, Visually Impaired 59 minutes ago
MONDAY, July 21 (HealthDay News) -- Because they can be nearly silent,
hybrid cars pose a serious threat of injury and death to blind and
visually impaired people, says the American Council of the Blind,
which is pushing the auto industry and government officials to develop
ways to reduce this danger.
"Traditionally, people who are blind or visually impaired learn to
rely on their hearing and tactile cues to provide them with
information about their environment, which they can use to navigate
safely across streets and through other vehicular ways, such as
parking lots. In so doing, the sound of traffic is their primary
focus," Melanie Brunson, council executive director, said in a news
release from the council.

I don't suppose anyone here knows who runs deadlists.com? I love
their search engine, but it has been broken for weeks. The whole site
is in disarray, I fear it will soon disappear completely. Is there
anyplace else where one can search for specific songs, specific
venues, etc.?
Peace,
Neil X.
