Some people may remember a while back when I posted here about my warm
feelings for Claire, the customer service representative from Caiman,
who has always been so prompt, polite and helpful about any problems
that have arisen from me ordering cds from Caiman. Caiman is the biggest
of all bargain/used internet cd store that Amazon recommends, and I tend
to buy a lot of music from Caiman.
However, I'm sad to say that I no longer feel the same way about Claire.
I've got some pretty solid evidence that Claire is a simulcra.
Or maybe I just pushed my relationship too far and she is giving me a
cold shoulder that is as icy as an auto-computer response. What happened
was I got into a big problem with Tower Records, which is now an
internet-only site. I ordered the new Ray Davies cd from Tower and they
sent it to me twice, and charged me twice. Tower than ignored my emails
about this, and only by bombarding Tower with emails was I able to get a
any response. One of the responses, came from Claire, about my Tower
problem. There are rumours that Caiman now owns Tower.

It's times like this that we can sit back and think to ourselves,
isn't it time to just relax and take things as they come? Can the
process of ordering CDs from amazon really compete with that of just
lying in a field of long grass, listening to the crickets talking back
and forth or whatever, seeing the sun drift slowly downwards and
breathing a sigh of relief that you didn't once have to sit patiently
waiting for another email from Claire that day?

Dammit - Claire must be on some kind of auto-google because she's sent
this poisoned rose computer response program to attack me in rmd.

Keep writing. And make sure you cc: the Chairman of the Board.
Years ago, when I was building my first company, a pioneering little
venture in the CD-ROM industry, I got a form letter from John
Thornton, Director of Circulation at Forbes Magazine, asking me to
renew my subscription. Just for fun, I wrote him a personal letter
explaining that I would re-up my sub if his magazine did a feature on
the nascent CD-ROM marketplace which I was a player in at the time and
that had thus far not been covered by his magazine. A couple of weeks
later, I got a call from Gary Slutsker, a Forbes reporter, who
interviewed me on the phone and ended up writing a two page article on
the industry with 1/4 page sidebar devoted to me and my company.
Well, it didn't stop there. When I sent in my renewal check to the
Thornton, I wrote him a very polite thank you letter and cc:ed Malcolm
Forbes on it suggesting that he might want to get our CD-ROM based...

And that's no kind of crime. Most of the time. Spare a dime? Too high
a climb?
