I forgot to mention that Farhan also identified Hatto's Venezia e
Napoli ( A. de P. 2nd year, supplement) as the work of Janina
Fialkowska.

These Fialkowska revelations do not help B-C's reputation as a fine judge of
piano playing.

I haven't heard enough Hatto to have an opinion on the quality of the
entire operation. Of what I've heard, some of it was very good, some
of it was good, and some of it mediocre. From this meager sampling, it
looks like his main merit is in picking not so well known or downright
obscure recordings (mostly, not always). I don't know these Fialkowska
recordings, though I am sure I do have some of her stuff on LP, with
no clear recollection of how good it is.

I have Fialkowska's Liszt LP on RCA, and always thought her Sonata in b and
Mephisto Waltz #1 were very fine. Has anyone confirmed who played the
"Hatto" Mephisto yet?

Farhan said that Donald Manildi has both CDs and said there was no
doubt they were the same. I even heard that the timings are said to
be very similar, which surprises me.
The waveform analysis comes next. The Amazon excerpt, by the way,
as I mention on my page, is from another section of the work and is
written in a lower key than the same theme re-iterated in the 'Hatto'
excerpt at a later point in the piece. It's also somewhat less fluid
to me.

Are you referring to B-C's choice of his Liszt pianists?

He seems to have picked good recordings by variable artists. It would be
intriguing to know whether all of these original works are really original -
or whether they are in any cases themselves 'ghosted' or counterfeited.
