Her recital this week :

www.medici.tv/#/festival/13/61/5/

Before the pause, the Ligeti Etudes were effective, the second she
played might give "Feux Folletts" a technical run for it. But then
another Verbier 2008 Liszt Sonata (Berezovsky earlier, without much
more success IMHO) which brought to mind criticism the young golfer
Michelle Wie's advisors have received for having her play in a PGA
tournament ( had to get in on a sponsor's exemption), skipping the
ladies' British Open, before she has won any LPGA event.

After pause, a very fine Scriabin 2nd Sonata, music of the type she
should be playing more of now I suspect, and a stunning, especially
live, "La Valse" ( N.B. Kip), which seemed to be the only piece, along
with the Scriabin, she really enjoyed that evening.

IMHO.

Regards, Rugby

'The acoustics are marvelous, and serve the clear, vibrato-less voices
wonderfully well. They seem nearly transparent in their clarity.'

  Chekassky's Chopin Preludes

Author: Gabriel Parra

If I may just say that I am in the process of having a very dangerous
and life-altering ear-gasm listening to Cherkassky's Chopin Preludes
from the 1968 Salzburg Festival. Jesus H. Christ! What absolutely mind-
bogglingly beguiling tone! There are times when you can hardly believe
the piano is actually a percussion instrument. It's as if he bypassed
the hammers entirely and caressed the strings themselves with his own
fingers. An idiosyncratic interpretation that is yet completely
Chopin, and the least overtly dramatic reading I've heard. So many
moments when you feel that hand-squeezing-your-chest thing, a feeling
not unlike falling in love. Cherkassky's is now my favorite rendition
after Arrau's very different take from the 1960 Prague Spring
Festival, bar none the greatest, most titanic...

Here's a couple of items that may be of interest to someone.

In both cases the album is priced normally but if you buy all the
tracks individually it is much cheaper.

Wagner Die Walkure Act 3 (Rodzinski Traubel Janssen NYPO) for ~$2 if
you buy the tracks instead of the album:

Verdi Trovatore (Bjorling, Milanov, Barbieri, Warren, Cellini) for ~$4
if you buy the individual tracks instead of the album:
