Here's the premiere recording of one of Benjamin Britten's finest
works, his String Quartet No. 2 in C, Op. 36. composed in 1945 to mark
the 250th anniversary of the death of Henry Purcell. This features
the work's first performers, the Zorian String Quartet (Olive Zorian
and Marjorie Lavers, violins; Winifred Copperwheat, viola; and Norina
Semino, cello) and was recorded, as the labels proclaim proudly,
"under the supervision of the composer," and issued on HMV C 3536
through C 3539. I'm not sure of the exact date, but its matrices (2EA
11283-2/4-1/5-2/6-1/7-1/8-2/9-2) fall between those of Elisabeth
Schumann's recording of "Frauenliebe- und Leben" (2EA 11274/8) and 3
Brahms sides by Edwin Fischer (2EA 11294/6). The former was begun
October 9, 1946, and the latter were made on October 15...

First of all, thanks to the individuals who kindly offered advice in response to my
previous request for assistance. In case anyone else has a similar problem in the
future (CDRs burned with EAC played perfectly in every player except my new Arcam), I
will share the following lessons that I learned while solving the problem:
(1) My Arcam player does not like Memorex Music CDRs, no matter how they are burned.
Three other players had no problem with them.
(2) The Arcam does not like any brand of CDR burned using EAC, especially when a
pregap is inserted between tracks. The pregap stops the player in its tracks (so to
speak).
(3) Using Burrrn and any brand of CDR that I've tried (Fuji, Maxell, TDK) other than
Memorex yields excellent results, but only when the writing speed is set no higher
than 12x. According to a poster in the peripherals newsgroup, this limitation is
related to the Philips SDVD8820 combo drive that came with my laptop.
Changing CDR brands, switching from EAC to Burrn, and reducing the writing speed were
the keys to success. Now my Arcam is happy and so am I :-)

Give up, you lose. They don't want you. They don't believe your crap
anymore, except in W.V. Have some class. Bow out and congratulate Sen
Obama. What happened when you came in second before, in 1973 at The
Kentucky Derby and Preakness?
Help defeat McWarmonger. Tell your moronic supporters to support the

Issue-Corporate Tax Rates
Theory-Lowering the taxrate creates more jobs in the USA, makes
Corporations healthier and more competitive.
Reality- Lowering Corporate tax rates has NOT trickled down to the
worker. The extra revenue has been used to raise the pay of CEO's and
other stockholders and to fund the strengthening of overseas
subsidiaries that employ workers at rates much much lower than in
America, creating the opposite effect of its intentions
My Bill
Lower the Corporate tax rate but not blindly and loopholey. Strictly
and definitely define the purpose of these lower tax rates. Give the
lower rate to those Corporations who meet these strict and definite
goals. Deny the lower rate to those corporations that do not. And
raise the rate to those Corporations that replace domestic jobs with
overseas workers.
This bill is FAIR to ALL, creates what it intended to do and does not
reward those who try to use it for thier pown interests. it is not
apayback to campaign contributors It takes a fine theory and forces
it to survive the test of reality
