I am a big fan of Isaac Albeniz' music, as many guitarists are. I
have been listening to Jason Vieaux Sevilla recording quite a bit
lately and it has never occurred to me that any of Albeniz' music is
even remotely easy to play. Are there any pieces that are close to
the intermediate level?
The JV recording is great and it has been nice to get beyond Leyenda
and Sevilla to some other terrific pieces (Torre Bermeja and Cuba for
instance, which I heard Jason play live, as well). When I feel I have
the ability to play some of these pieces, I will of course get Stanley
Yates' Albeniz edition.

My student and I recorded the second movement of Op. 61, No. 3.
So here are both movements:
first movement

second movement
http://www.pooretom.com/sorsample2.html
Both are edited with Audacity, which I don't plan to use for the
recording.
The above files are just slapped together to see what we've got. But I
hope you'll find them enjoyable. By the way, the episode at the two
minute mark of the Valse is one of my favorite parts in Sor's duets—
an expression of pure joy.

Someone just sent me 2 CD's, a live recording of a concert my group
last year. However, the pieces aren't indexed, there is just one very
long track on each CD, 1st and 2nd half of the concert.
I want to use several pieces for a demo CD for our booking agency. I
can go to a studio and have it indexed, but I wonder if there is
software I can buy, not too expensive, so I can do it myself.

OK, I have to give a big hand to Andrew for his recent posts that have
filled in for the political BS and the conspiracy BS, So now it's my
turn.
I'm in the process of writing up a review of the LSA 2008 master
classes (baroque lute) where Bob Barto and Nigel North taught in the
same classroom back to back every day for 5 days. What a wonderful
opportunity.
Now, I've been in master classes on guitar and on lutes, but this
experience was special. I didn't have to perform; I just had to
watch and record.
My question to you folks is.....what has been your experience in
master classes? Were they useful to you? How were they handled? How
did the "master" treat you? Did he/she play to you or to the
audience?
Robert

Hi all,
I've opened a full shop with talented people, including Larry Macri of
Macri Music offering luthier services for the Long Island area. Larry
is extremely talented in this regard, well versed in all stringed
instruments, including fiddle instruments, acoustic guitar, banjos, etc.
He recently fully restored an old Hasselbacher made in the 70's that
was in total distress. A remarkable transformation, including spruce
splices, crack repair, fixing and shaving loose braces, all of which
needed attention, saddle and bridge work, neck shaving, fret work and a
complete setup and finish repair. The guitar is now an absolute gem
with a wonderful sound.
He has also serviced a few guitars of my own that are responding
beautifully to his expert attention.
If you know of anyone that requires service of this kind in my area,
point them my way. A modest breakdown of complete services is listed here:

Thanks kindly...

Kind Regards,

That title should be "The Golden Ratio" which is the same thing - Phi.
BTW, "The Eternal Spiral" by Brouwer is one case that does use Phi
according to the composer himself ( and of course the title :-)
