The music of Albeniz

I am a big fan of Isaac Albeniz' music, as many guitarists are. I
have been listening to Jason Vieaux Sevilla recording quite a bit
lately and it has never occurred to me that any of Albeniz' music is
even remotely easy to play. Are there any pieces that are close to
the intermediate level?

The JV recording is great and it has been nice to get beyond Leyenda
and Sevilla to some other terrific pieces (Torre Bermeja and Cuba for
instance, which I heard Jason play live, as well). When I feel I have
the ability to play some of these pieces, I will of course get Stanley
Yates' Albeniz edition.

Sometimes it's all in the key it's transcribed to.. You might find
Cadiz do-able, and it's one of my favorites.

Granada is not too tough. Torre Bermeja is probably the most challenging
of the Segovia arrangements of Albeniz. daveA

Me too! For me, the piece is "Asturias" and my goal is to play it like,

As soon as I achieve this, I am going to pour gasoline all over myself and

The Sonata in D is somewhere around the intermediate level.

That the Tango(in D)was harder than it sounds was my conclusion too.
Kinda nice though - that short piece takes a couple of nifty turns and
offers the opportunity to really sweeten up the melody. Too sweet, in my
case - might be better off with no-cal. :-)

You probably have more time left in this world to practice Albeniz than
I do. Good thing playing it badly is OK with me. :-)
