My wife and I will be doing a concert at the Levitt Pavilion in
Westport, Connecticut on Tuesday, July 29th, at 8PM. My quintet has
played there often in the past, and will be back next summer, but this
summer they wanted something different. It's always good to have
different formats to offer!

More and more I like combining the classical and pop repertoire. It
used to be hard to fit to an audience, people were one crowd or the
other, but it's not really that way anymore generally speaking.

I'm on my porch (with laptop), playing guitar, puffing a cigar, enjoying
highly creamed and sugared coffee (Costa Rican). My cat is nearby --
ignoring me -- with recently clipped claws. Rest of family is still
sleeping. It is a good morning! I wish the same for the rest of you.
Practicing...
Sor - Op 6, No 1.
Reiher - Miniatures 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 12, and 13
Others...

hi,
I believe that the repertoire we're playing is really getting dull. I
think it's our job to select the pieces that truly come from the heart
while playing. I mean that we should play every day music that we
never played before, and therefore make a selection of what's good and
what's bad (you're the judge of that, and only you have that privilage
as a player). Of course, taste can change during the years. It could
happen that standards are in the good music, but I believe that we
only play 5 procent or even less of the good music. I'm only thinking
of all the lesser known composers... That's one thing.
The other thing: we should play a lot of chambermusic first of all,
then other people than guitarists come to the concerts, and maybe now
and then we can play a solo piece that's really good music (doesn't
have to be a standard either, the only measure is: GOOD music)...
I truly believe if we combine those two things, we can remove this
cloud that hangs around the 'classical guitar' and spread our world to
other audiences, composers, players,...
I still consider this as my lifetime achievement, no matter on what
scale this is (local or worldwide)

To my fellow Americans,
I am not a very political person, but I just wanted to pass along some
information about Senator Obama's hour long visit to Bagram Air Force Base
in Afghanistan on his trip through "The War Zone."
I felt the need to share some of his disgraceful behavior with you. He got
off the plane, went right into a bullet-proof vehicle and drove directly to
the area where he was to meet with the Major General (two-star) who is the
commander here at Bagram.
There were a number of Soldiers lined up to shake his hand but he blew them
off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the
General. When he finished, the vehicles took him to the Clam Shell (pretty
much a big-top tent in which military personnel can play basketball or work
out with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing
basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers or to thank
them for their service.

Where does B-Ho stand?
Nobody knows.
That's OK, what's not OK is that he doesn't know either.

Obama on DC handgun ban:
Chicago Tribune 11/20/07
"[T]he campaign of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said that he
'...believes that we can recognize and respect the rights of law-abiding gun
owners and the right of local communities to enact common sense laws to
combat violence and save lives. Obama believes the D.C. handgun law is
constitutional.'" (James Oliphant and Michael J. Higgins, "Court To Hear Gun
Case," Chicago Tribune, 11/20/07)
ABC News 2/15/08
But asked today about the DC handgun ban currently being reviewed by the US
Supreme Court, Obama declined to take a position for or against its
Constitutionality but did express broad support for the rights of local
jurisdictions to make such decisions for themselves." (David Wright, Ursula
Fahy And Sunlen Miller, "Obama: 'Common Sense Regulation' On Gun Owners'
Rights," ABC News, 2/15/08)
