Change the way guitar music is written

Author: troydonaghue

I think it would be better if guitar music were written using two
treble staffs. One for the bass strings and one for the treble
strings. Visually it would make more sense and I think that there
would be less need for extra markings to tell you what strings the
notes are on. If this becomes the norm it will be called the Troy
system of guitar notation!

  Obama=The Next Jimmy Carter?

This seems to be what all the old fogies are saying. I was born on
election day 76, so I wouldn't know. But if you are one of the elders
here, kindly chime in and tell us whether you see any similarity
between the two candidates. Will Obama's presidency be equally
disastrous?

For me, there are a lot of gems in this advice. He actually mentioned
some of these in his master class in Philadelphia a few weeks back.

  David Russell plays Grieg

Author: John Nguyen

I listened to Russell's Art of the Guitar CD today. I never knew
Grieg's could be this good on the guitar! You can watch him on youtube
here:

The playing is great on both youtube and CD, but the sound quality is
so much better on the CD.
Treat yourselves this evening by giving it a listen.
Cheers,

John

  Gypsy Teens......a mini review

You gotta get this one. Even as a survivor of Aaron Shearer's Sunday
guitar ensemble ordeals from the '60s, I can tell you that multiple
guitars really can sound good. Those Sunday ensembles from Heft 13
of the Gittarspiel were a torture. So how did Kevin Taylor manage to
get 8 underage kids to perform as good or better than the LAGQ? Damned
if I know, but he did it.

The music is a lovely mix of old and new styles, all composed or
arranged by Kevin for the group. The music was well played with
delicacy and an amazing amount of work in the upper registers. I
haven't been up that high since.......a long time ago.

Kevin should give you the source of this lovely CD so you can
one....or two.

I just played around with a chord melody arrangement of the Part A. Does it
seem to be reasonably correct? Any suggestions for improvement.
