Hello Paul,

It is difficult to add something to your list without knowing what is
exactly on these albums.
- El rey del Flamenco for instance is a clear name. You are putting behind
it that it was released on ABC-Paramount . I am also having this record but
on Fontana.

I am having for instance 80 records of Andres Segovia. Many were released
several times on different labels HMV, DECCA, DGG and MCA . Many "remastered
copies" were made during the years. This doesn't not always mean that the
quality improved. The old DECCA's are actually the best . They are giving
the real sound of his Hauser guitar. The enormous echo which is used in
later releases is completely destroying everything.

Making a good discography is difficult.

The photos are too grainy. I did discern a rosewood (or other non-
ebony) fingerboard and sapele/mahogany back. Of course
I can't determine if the woods are solid, but I can say with some
confidence that it's a cheap guitar. I doubt it was more
than $300 new. The fingerboard and back wood is a dead giveaway.

Hand mde? Sure. All guitars are 'hand made' to one extent or another.

Here's another work in progress - don't look if you just want finished
product. I intentionally rushed the triplets in most instances (is
that right?) and a few scattered bass notes seem to linger a little
longer than desired (Oops).

  Suite del Plata Inquiry

In Maximo Diego Pujol's Suite del Plata No. 2, Mvt. 5, Candombecito
Fiestero, Editions Orphee, there is no tempo indication. I like to
play it andante where it sounds kind of lyrical in an almost modern
mimimalist way. However I have heard good players play it fairly
fast.

I have learned from some fine Latin players, especially Ricardo Cobo,
that many Argentine and Latin pieces assume a knowledge of the musical
style that is not and almost cannot be ingrained into the notation.

Since the title of this piece roughly translates as "festive little
candombe" and candombe is a largely African style from the time when
slaves were in the La Plata river basin which predated and influenced
milonga and tango, and was likely influenced by lively rhythmically
contrapuntal African drumming, this would suggest a fairly fast tempo
is appropriate for this piece. However specific stylistic
characteristics such as this are not always exactly mimiced over time
as a musical style progresses and moreover when composers simply use a
style as an inspriation for their own particular creation.

MO, do you have anything to suggest for this or did you just forget to
put in the tempo?

Don't know where else to turn, since I'm only really into classical guitar.
But does anybody recognise this (electric guitar?) chord solo from way, way
back? The link is my yahoo folders
