  Imagine Whirled Peace

Author: marcus
Date: May 12, 2008 19:45

Knowing that Ben & Jerry's is quite socially conscious, and donates a
percentage of their profits to green-oriented organizations and
progressive causes makes their announcement(below) more palatable.
However, there is a part of me questioning, "It's come to this?":

"When Ben & Jerry’s wanted to talk about peace, we couldn’t think of a
better person to exemplify the message than John Lennon. Through his
art and lyrics he imagined a world without war and asked us all to
‘Give Peace a Chance’. We hope this whirly mixture of toffee cookies
and fudge peace signs enlightens your bellies and souls and makes you
ask what you can do to promote peace in your lives."

INGREDIENTS: Cream, Water, Skim Milk, Liquid Sugar, Sugar, Wheat
Flour, Egg Yolks, Coconut Oil, Butter, Brown Sugar, Corn Syrup, Egg,
Milk, Natural Flavor, Sweetened Condensed Skim Milk, Cocoa (Processed
With Alkali), Salt, Baking Soda, Vanilla Extract, Guar Gum, Corn
Starch, Almond, Soya Lecithin, Carrageenan

ALLERGY INFO: The Fudge Peace Sign Pieces Are Manufactured On
Equipment That Also Processes Peanuts And Tree Nuts."

  Paris 1965

Hi, does anyone know anything about these individuals or groups that
apparently appeared with The Beatles in Paris in 1965?

Les Pollux (performing "I'm All Right")
Evy (performing "Memphis, Tennessee")
Moustique (performing "Joy, Joy, Joy")
Les Haricots Rouges (performing "Les Copains D'abord" - [I believe this
was a Jazz Band])

Were there other groups on the bill?

I do know The Yardbirds were on the bill and performed a song called "I
Wish You Would" and that one of the performances was recorded for live
release on an album titled "The Yardbirds Beat Club".

"Ayahuasca Trip" - a new poem by rags!

Author: RAG Seely
Date: May 12, 2008 10:00

My dears, this work is based on an experience I had back in the 90s.
I was on sabbatical, and decided, as one does, to explore the Amazon.
Ayahuasca, for the uninitiated, is a bitter-tasting but otherwise
wondrous concoction. Now the poem...

"Ayahuasca Trip"

by R.A.G. Seely

I heard water burbling
As I bathed in sunset's rays
Something seemed unearthly
I was in a kind of daze

I could hear a chorus
Of a thousand poison-frogs
Shriekings from the forest
Was it the animal-gods?

My heart, fiercely pounding
I retreated to my tent
Darkness was surrounding
So was this what "nature" meant?

"Grow Your Hair" - a new poem by rags!

"Grow Your Hair"

by R.A.G. Seely

Grow your hair while in your bed
Grow your hair for peace
Grow your hair for Englishmen
Grow it for Japanese

Grow your hair to take a stand
Show you're one of us
Grow your hair to join a band
Or just to gain my trust

Grow your hair the hippie way
On diets of dope
Let it tangle, knot and fray
Forget the stupid soap!

Grow your hair for heteros
Grow your hair for gays
Grow the hair inside your nose
Keep scissors far away

"Primal Scream" - a new poem by rags!

"Primal Scream"

by R.A.G. Seely

When my worries stem and team
A doctor probes my past
I require a primal scream
The work we face is vast

He dissects mem'ries and dreams
Defenses stripped away
I can feel a welling scream
I moan and sob and sway

I'm infantilized, it seems
A wailing babe once more
I issue my primal scream!
And writhe upon the floor!

Now, at peace, becalmed, I beam
At last I have been healed
I have screamed a primal scream
And learned that I...can feel

Anyone read that interview by John Waters in Details?

Author: fattuchus
Date: May 12, 2008 09:20

I just read an interview by director John Waters in Detail Magazine
where he says, among other things, that he doesn't like the Beatles.
He says they destroyed rock and roll and put Motown out of business.
Waters says he owns no Beatles records.

He also claimed to be annoyed at John singing "imagine no possessions"
while living in the Dakota. (supposedly)

Anyone else read this silly interview? What is the bug up his tush?
